ORANGE COUNTY, CALIF.(February 3, 2020) – Montage Hotels & Resorts is pleased to announce the appointment of Allen Highfield to the position of general manager of Montage Healdsburg. A Montage veteran with an extensive and diverse background in luxury hospitality, including nearly five years leading sister resort Montage Deer Valley, Highfield will oversee the opening of Montage’s newest ultra-luxury address and seventh property, which invites travelers to experience the beauty, art, and local culture of Northern California wine country.

Highfield joins Montage Healdsburg from Montage Deer Valley, where he served as general manager starting in summer 2014. During his tenure, the Park City, Utah-based resort was consistently honored among the finest properties in the country with Forbes Five-Star ratings from 2016-2018; Condé Nast Traveler “Gold List” honors in 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018; AAA Five Diamond Awards from 2014-2020; and inclusion on Travel + Leisure’s “World’s Best” list as one of the “Best Resorts in the West” and “Top 50 in the U.S.”
Prior to joining Montage Hotels & Resorts, Highfield was with The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, serving as general manager of The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco; The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe; and The Ritz-Carlton Georgetown (Washington, D.C.). He also served as hotel manager of The Ritz-Carlton, New York, Battery Park; and director of operations of The Ritz-Carlton Club, Bachelor Gulch (Colorado). He began his hospitality career with Hyatt Regency and also held management positions at Four Seasons Hotel Chicago and The Little Nell in Aspen, Colorado.
Scheduled to begin welcoming guests in late fall 2020, Montage Healdsburg will be settled among oak trees and vine-covered hills just a short distance from the historic and charming downtown Healdsburg, Calif. Nestled within the rolling hills of Sonoma County, the 258-acre resort will feature 130 bungalow-style accommodations with a wine country contemporary design. As the first Montage location in Northern California, the resort will be a home base for memorable journeys to iconic wineries in the Alexander Valley, Dry Creek and Russian River appellations, as well as legendary culinary establishments and scenic drives.
