Langkawi, Malaysia – 7 February 2022:  Aloft Langkawi Pantai Tengah welcomes Adrian Chua, as the newly appointed General Manager for the island hotel. With over 30 years of international experience in the hospitality industry and F&B, Adrian has a wealth of knowledge that he intends to share with the sassy 4-star property.
Having graduated with a Diploma in Hotel & Catering Management from KDU College and holding a Certificate of Revenue Management (Hospitality) from HSMAI Academy, Adrian recently completed his Masters in Business Administration from University Tun Abdul Razak. His career began in the Garden Hotel Johor, first as a bellboy and then as a receptionist cum night auditor, followed by industrial training in the popular Shangri-La Rasa Sayang Resort Penang, then a 2-year stint in the upscale Lafite restaurant in Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur.
Adrian’s journey with Marriott started with the Renaissance Hotel Kuala Lumpur in 1996, followed by The Westin Kuala Lumpur, Four Points by Sheraton Beijing, Aloft Beijing, and Le Meridien Qingdao with various roles in F&B. He served as Executive Assistant Manager for F&B in three hotels: Shertaon Xian North City, the pre-opening team for Intercontinental Fuzhou, and the Westin Beijing Chaoyang, before holding the role of Resident Manager in the Shangri-La Hotel Wuhan from 2018 to 2021, and in Futian Shangri-La Hotel Shenzhen from 2021 to 2022, overseeing all operational departments. Returning to Malaysia in March 2022, Adrian led the team at the 468-room Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur as Hotel Manager, located in the bustling heart of Malaysia’s capital city.
In moving to Aloft Langkawi Pantai Tengah, Adrian’s primary goal is to ensure the hotel’s talents enjoy and bring their passion to the job, as he strongly believes that this joy will be reciprocated in delighting guests. With the hotel a popular choice for travelers looking for a laidback island break, another target is to be in the Top 5 list of Langkawi hotels on TripAdvisor.
A proud father of one, he is also a volunteer in Persatuan Kebajikan Persatuan Hotel Malaysia (PHM), a non-profit organization that consists of over 420 hospitality members throughout South East Asia mainly in China, Hong Kong, Macao and Malaysia. With a passion for helping the needy, Adrian participates in giving back to the less fortunate, reaching out to orphanages, old folks homes, disabled children’s centres, with outreach efforts to those affected by natural disasters.
