New consulting practice helmed by esteemed luxury hotelier Hervé Houdré provides hospitality industry ultimate insider knowledge and experience
April 10, 2018 (New York, NY) – Hervé Houdré has taken his passion for Sustainable Development and 40-years of experience in luxury hospitality and launched H2 Sustainability Consulting. His focus is to help the Hospitality industry, Cities, Regions and the Academic world conceive, integrate and implement pertinent and profitable sustainability strategies — aligned to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development goals — in their economic model.
While taking the helm of some of the most prestigious institutions of the industry, such as the Plaza Athénée-New York, Hôtel de Crillon-Paris, Plaza Athénée-Paris, Kempinski Hotels & Resorts (COO), Willard InterContinental-Washington D.C. and InterContinental Barclay-New York, Houdré became one of the world’s strongest and most acclaimed advocates of sustainable hospitality. He combines the skills of a global professional with the experience of an operator who implemented the objectives, strategies and tactics of a Triple Bottom Line approach -Profit, People, Planet- at a company and unit level.
His new consulting practice offers tourism focused organizations, that may not have sufficient internal resources, the opportunity to outsource the research, development and deployment of an appropriate Sustainability strategy that proves to be costs saving and revenue enhancing as it attracts like-minded corporations and potential customers.
Hervé's experience is unrivaled. He has always been engaged in the local community where he held board positions and operated Sustainability committees in various organizations such as The Leading Hotels of the World, New York State Hotel Association, United Nations International School, American Hotel & Lodging Association, Downtown D.C. BID, Global Sustainable Tourism Council. He was the Chairman of the Board of the Hotel Association of New York City and currently serves on the Board and Executive Committee of NYC & Company where he chairs the sustainability committee.
In 2006 he published Sustainable Hospitality© – Sustainable Development in the Hotel Industry, a white paper promoted by Cornell University’s Center for Hospitality Research. He co-edited a book, Hotel Sustainable Development: Principles and Best Practices, published in 2011 by American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute. Houdré was recognized as the 2006 Independent Hotelier of the World by HOTELS magazine readers. His leadership in sustainable development earned him the 2009 Condé Nast Traveler World Saver Award, the D.C. Downtown Citizen award and the D.C. Chamber of Commerce 2009 award.
