PARADISE ISLAND, THE BAHAMAS (September 9, 2015) – While Atlantis, Paradise Island resort in The Bahamas evokes a time of ancient legends, the iconic destination is introducing modern, fresh design concepts across the property. A dreamy palette of sea and sky, Atlantis offers incredible vistas and adventures across the impressive property. In staying connected with the modern traveler and relevant trends, the resort is embarking on four distinctive renovation and redesign projects, with the help of world-renowned interior architect and designer Jeffrey Beers, to ensure an amazing Atlantis experience for each and every guest. These renovations and significant capital investment continue to show Atlantis’ commitment to the overall resort experience and The Bahamas. These projects are just the beginning of Atlantis’ long term plan to enhance the property and guest accommodations, including a complete renovation and rejuvenation of other room accommodations and public spaces.
“Atlantis always strives to create the best possible vacation experience,” said Paul Burke, President and Managing Director of Atlantis, Paradise Island. “With these modern and contemporary enhancements to two of our dining outlets, Atlantis Casino, and The Cove Atlantis, we continue to set a new standard to all our loyal and future guests.”
“My firm is thrilled to collaborate with Atlantis again to create new designs for some of the resort’s key areas,” said Jeffrey Beers. “It’ll be a fresh take on Atlantis’ signature style that really elevates the guest experience.”
CONTEMPORARY CULINARY
Offering an array of experiences, Atlantis is also home to more than 40 restaurants, bars, and lounges. The resort’s unrivaled culinary landscape has something for everyone, whether fine or fast dining. Beginning summer 2015, two of these unique dining spaces are undergoing renovations to create a fresh and more modern flare.
Dual renovations have begun for the family-favorite Marketplace restaurant and the nearby Plato’s lounge. Marketplace encompasses buffet-style dining and made-to-order food stations, while Plato’s offers casual seating for guests to enjoy cocktails and light bites.
Once completed, Marketplace will re-open as Poseidon’s Table and offer a buffet dining concept with an entirely refreshed design. Poseidon’s Table will introduce new large, round booth and banquette seating, designed to which accommodate 300 guests. This space will be enhanced by new fixtures and elements that emanate the notion of being in the sea – corals reefs and underwater air bubbles.
The interactive buffet and station area will be framed by stained walnut shelves and hand-blown bubble lighting and sconces with chrome displays and glowing lanterns suspended above the countertops. The signature buffet stations will be comprised of glass mosaic tiles, fashioned in a circular pattern, while the wooden-esque floors are complemented by white porcelain, marbled countertops.
Upon entering Poseidon’s Table dining room, the open spaces throughout ignite a comfortable and engaging dining atmosphere, surrounded by the watery elements once commanded by a king of the sea. The King of the Sea’s dining room will feature a signature grand chandelier, designed by Manhattan-based jGoodDesign that will display several generously-sized, colorful glass bubbles, the captivating centerpiece. The dining room will introduce a teal and sand-beige palette, creating the calming feeling of sea and sand. Décor includes hand-blown glass vessels lit by glowing lights, perched just above the diners for intimate lighting. Mood lighting, inspired by the ebbing of the tides, captivates guests as a softly-glowing wall of continuously changing colors, subtly transforming the space as it shifts with the time of day from behind a bubbled screen. Poseidon’s Table is slated to open in late December 2015.
LIVELY LOUNGES
Plato’s, the lounge located in the heart of Royal Towers, is undergoing a change in both layout and design. The transformed space will be themed with light tones for a beach-like atmosphere that welcomes guests at all times of the day. From flip-flops to the fashionable, Plato’s remains the perfect place for grabbing a light fare for breakfast or indulging in the evening (and daytime!) cocktails.
There will be four unique settings within the overall space of Plato’s. The central bar acts as the prominent feature of Plato’s and beckons guests to enjoy a drink as they relax in shagreen-covered chairs below the four large TVs sitting against an onyx backdrop above. Formed by two inwards-facing horseshoe surfaces, the bar seats 40 patrons and is adorned by leather-wrapped panels with chrome detail.
Beyond the bar sits a raised lounge area, an inviting space bordered by a wall of arched windows. Additional seating for 60 is spread among eclectic furniture with teal and coral-hued upholstery, while the lounge walls are dominated by custom graphic, water-centric murals. Located in the right-most corner is a small stage, dedicated to entertainment and equipped with special lighting for evening performances. Adjacent to this elevated area sits the “library lounge”, formed by light walnut-wooded walls polished chrome, and dark bronze metals, an ideal atmosphere for relaxing after a long day.
To the bar’s left is the brand-new patisserie decorated with simplistic vintage beach themed décor and will serve quick bites for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late night snacks. The patisserie will present specially and delectably made pastries daily, created by Atlantis’ resident chef. With these delightful bites, porcelain tile floors and comfortable seating, guests can enjoy Plato’s for all day long lounging with the anticipated opening date of middle February 2016.
