Austin, TX, Oct 16 – The AT&T Hotel and Conference Center, located in the heart of Austin, is excited to announce a comprehensive $30 million renovation aimed at elevating both the guest and conference experience. Set to begin in Spring 2025, the project will focus on modernizing the hotel’s expansive 85,000+ square feet of meeting space to meet the evolving needs of today’s event planners and attendees.

The renovation is timed to coincide with the upcoming closure of Austin’s Convention Center in late Spring 2025, positioning the AT&T Hotel and Conference Center as a premier venue for conferences and events. With advanced meeting technology, collaboration-focused features, and turnkey luxury, the hotel will offer ‘campus-style mini wides’ in collaboration with its partner hotels in the University Hotel Collection.

This extensive redesign reflects the hotel’s commitment to blending Texas heritage with modern luxury. Serving as a cornerstone of the University of Texas community, the hotel will seamlessly integrate historical elements with forward-thinking design, ensuring it remains a welcoming space for alumni, visitors, and conference attendees alike.

Design and Technology Enhancements

The AT&T Hotel and Conference Center’s new design aesthetic will embrace a “Contemporary Texan” style, creating a comfortable yet elevated atmosphere. Key design and technology upgrades include:

  • Brand new junior ballroom, expanding the hotel’s event capabilities within its 85,000+ square feet of meeting space
  • Advanced audio-visual technology, including beamforming microphones for seamless, high-tech meetings and conferences
  • Re-imagined foyers that bring in more natural light and encourage collaboration

The renovation will be spearheaded by Texas-based Lake Flato, the Architect of Record and original architects of the property, in collaboration with Waldrop + Nichols Studio, the award-winning interior design firm. Both firms will ensure the updated space reflects Austin’s local flavor while maintaining a modern sophistication.

“This is the University of Texas; change starts here. It’s about evolving our space to better serve our guests while honoring our connection to the university and Austin’s unique culture,” said Alison Berg, General Manager of AT&T Hotel and Conference Center. “We’re excited to provide an elevated experience that blends tradition and innovation.”

The re-imagination of the conference facilities will be completed by Summer 2025. The hotel and conference center will remain open throughout the renovation.
