BOSTON, MASS. (May 23, 2018) – XV Beacon, the award winning boutique address located atop Boston’s Beacon Hill, has named Kara Smith as Director of Sales & Marketing. Drawing upon nearly a decade of business travel and catering sales experience earned at properties in and around Boston, Smith now leads all sales and marketing efforts for XV Beacon, including planning and implementing innovative sales, marketing and product development initiatives. In her new role, Smith also serves as the main point of contact for existing group, meetings and incentive clientele; leads outreach to expand the hotel’s current and prospective client base; and promotes the unique qualities and exciting developments that have long made XV Beacon the most desirable address for upscale business and leisure travel within the region.

Prior to assuming her role at XV Beacon, Smith held the position of Director of Business Travel Sales at Battery Wharf Hotel in Boston, Mass. She was responsible for managing the corporate/leisure travel segment, acquiring new accounts, and cultivating relationships with hospitality consortia on behalf of the 150-room property.
Additional roles held by Smith prior to joining XV Beacon include Senior Business Travel Sales Manager at Boston Park Plaza; Catering Sales Manager at Royal Sonesta Hotel in Boston, Mass.; Catering Sales Manager/Conference Service Manager at The Verve-Crowne Plaza in nearby Natick, Mass.; and Catering Coordinator at Crowne Plaza Boston-Natick. Smith began her career in hospitality as an Event Assistant at the Massachusetts Lodging Association Education Foundation, also in Boston, Mass.
An active and involved hospitality professional, Smith has been a member of the New England Business Travel Association for the past four years and did a turn as a Board Member in 2017. Boston resident for more than a decade, Smith earned a Bachelor of Science degree in hotel and tourism management with a minor in marketing from Mount Ida College in Newton, Massachusetts.
