April 08–VIRGINIA BEACH — Have you been pining for a painting that hung at the historic Cavalier Hotel? Perhaps a chair from its veranda?

You’re in luck.

The hotel’s contents are being liquidated this Thursday at a public sale. It features furnishings and art from 100 guest rooms, patio furniture, fixtures and equipment, according to a news release.

The sale runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will continue for 18 days, the release said. Sunday hours will be noon to 5 p.m.

Cavalier Associates LLC, led by developer Bruce Thompson, bought the 1927 Cavalier for $35.1 million last year. It’s been closed for renovation, and Thompson plans to create a five-star resort and build homes around the hotel as well as redevelop its newer sister hotel across Atlantic Avenue.
