July 15–Choose Chicago, the government-supported non-profit that promotes the city as a tourism and convention destination, is beginning a search for its next top marketing officer after the resignation of Warren Wilkinson last week, a spokeswoman said Monday.

Wilkinson came on board shortly after Don Welsh was hired as president and CEO in early 2011, following Welsh here from the Indianapolis Convention & Visitors Association.

The organization said Wilkinson was instrumental in developing Chicago’s first regional advertising campaign and with the opening of nine international offices.

He is moving to a position in private sector, the Choose Chicago spokeswoman said.
