Islamorada, FL (May 24, 2016) – Cheeca Lodge & Spa, Islamorada’s historic luxury resort destination, is pleased to announce Robert “Bob” LaCasse as General Manager. LaCasse joins the property with more than 25 years of experience and will usher the legendary resort through its milestone 70th anniversary year.
In his new role, LaCasse will oversee all resort operations and lead the hotel staff to continually exceed guest expectations and instill a lasting impression of Cheeca’s warm island hospitality.

Most recently, LaCasse served as the General Manager of the Hyatt Regency Resort in Newport, RI. Prior to Newport, he held the position of Regional Director of Operations for Interstate Hotels & Resorts where he was responsible for the day to day operations of 5 hotels totaling more than 1,300 guest rooms. Before joining Interstate, LaCasse was an Area Managing Director for HEI Hotels & Resorts based at the Le Meridian Hotel San Francisco.
LaCasse has lived all over the country, following his passion for the hospitality business. From Boston with Starwood Hotels, to Austin with HEI Hotels and Resorts, and now Florida with Cheeca, LaCasse is a well-traveled hospitality executive with a passion for growing brands, optimizing operations and supporting the hotel staff.
Together, LaCasse and the Cheeca team will bring vision, direction and development to the iconic resort during its 70th anniversary year through creative programming and events that pay homage to its storied past.
