James Beard Award-Winner Tim Cushman Opens O Ya and Roof at Park South
Tom Colicchio to Open Restaurant at The Beekman in 2016
New York, November 5, 2015 – Colicchio Consulting, a leading strategic management firm bringing together the world’s most distinctive hotels and internationally renowned culinary talent, announced agreements that brought Boston Chef Tim Cushman to open O Ya restaurant and Roof bar at NYC’s Park South Hotel and famed Chef Tom Colicchio to open a restaurant, event space and lounge at The Beekman, the much anticipated Thompson Hotel in Lower Manhattan in 2016.
With a combined total of more than four decades of hospitality and food and beverage deal making at the highest levels, Colicchio Consulting has brought top hotel owners, developers and asset managers together with the industry’s greatest chefs and restaurant operators, creating unique dining destinations that are on brand and generate attractive revenue opportunities.
O Ya and Roof – At the Park South
Tom Glassie, owner of the Park South Hotel, said, “The area surrounding our hotel at East 27th Street has blossomed into an international hub of culinary excellence. It was no easy task to find a partner with the experience to create truly distinctive dining experiences – and access to world class talent who can also be effective on the operations side. Colicchio Consulting delivered on all counts. We are delighted to acknowledge its role in O Ya and The Roof at Park South – both, already, have become hugely successful.”
Featuring an unmatched omakase menu that garnered Chef Cushman a James Beard Award , O Ya NYC opened its doors to rave reviews earlier this year. Established in Boston by husband and wife team Tim and Nancy Cushman, O Ya delivers inventive sushi, Japanese small plates and tasting menus crafted in elegant surroundings. The menu includes creative style nigiri, sashimi, a variety of savory dishes and dessert. Roof, one of the city’s hottest rooftop scenes, opened in 2014.
With support from Colicchio Consulting, Park South and the Cushman team will open two additional eateries – a three-meal restaurant and a café – in 2016.
The Beekman Rises
Within the majestic walls of one of New York’s most exceptional landmarks, a new paradigm for Lower Manhattan is emerging. An architectural gem, hailed for its iconic nine-story atrium and pyramidal skylight, The Beekman unites some of the world’s greatest talent, including the sophisticated design of Martin Brudnizki and the culinary cachet of restaurateur and Chef Tom Colicchio. The hotel will also feature a restaurant by Keith McNally, his first in the neighborhood. Sponsored by GFI Development and GB Lodging, The Beekman will be opening in spring, 2016.
“Especially in a project of intense scope and sophistication, there is no room for anything less than the perfect fit. We were delighted to work with Colicchio Consulting to bring Tom Colicchio to The Beekman”, said Allen Gross, CEO, GFI Development.
Located within the center of Lower Manhattan’s thriving new downtown, and nestled between both the East and Hudson Rivers, The Beekman is surrounded by some of Manhattan’s most cherished attractions, including the Brooklyn Bridge and the World Trade Center. The Beekman is a masterpiece rediscovered.
Unlimited Potential for Hotel Owners and Developers
Phil Colicchio, Managing Partner at Colicchio Consulting, said, “In our business, an extensive network of world renowned chefs and collaborative partners is critical, but it’s not enough. The best deals are accomplished only when there’s an intimate knowledge of the needs of both the hotel owner and restaurant operator. My partner Trip Schneck and I are proud to bring our experience to the table in working with our hotel and developer clients to align with great operators, and create inimitable dining experiences. As we prepare to celebrate the openings at Park South and The Beekman 2016, we also look forward making additional announcements about our work, in the weeks ahead.”
Schneck said, "These are the first of many deals that we believe will set a new standard for creative partnerships between hotel owners and world-class restaurant operators.” He concluded, “While leasing space to a regional or national restaurant chain traditionally provided a path of least resistance, today, progressive hotel owners and mixed use developers are increasingly seeking to retain control of their ground floors, through alternative and intelligent deal structures. These partnerships have a bright future – and we look forward to helping create unique guest experiences that differentiate hotel products and services from their competitive sets and produce incremental revenue and enhanced asset valuation."
Colicchio Consulting has provided property owners and developers in the US, Caribbean, UAE, Asia, and Europe with bespoke food and beverage curating services since 2005.
The firm has experience working with hotels, casinos, office buildings, mixed use developments, and stand-alone restaurant owners and developers, to help principals identify and engage the most well suited restaurant concept and operator for their market.
