PAPEETE, Tahiti – June 29, 2022 – Conrad Bora Bora Nui, the award-winning luxury resort ideally located in a private cove on Motu To’opua, a small islet off the coast of Bora Bora, announces the appointment of Chef Jean-Luc L’Hourre as the new Executive Chef overseeing all food and beverage offerings at the luxury property beginning August 1. Chef L’Hourre has held 3 Michelin Stars during his career and was elected Meilleur Ouvrier de France (MOF) in 2000 — a craftsmen competition held in France every four years. Chef L’Hourre is the first and only MOF in French Polynesia.
The title of “Meilleur Ouvrier de France” is a prestigious award according to category of trades in a contest among professionals. The contest is recognized as a third-level degree by the French Ministry of Labour. The awarding of medals occurs at the Sorbonne, in Paris, during a large reunion followed by a ceremony at the Élysée attended by the President of the French Republic. Created in 1924, initially between the best chefs of the era ages 23 and over, the contest was given the title of Meilleur Ouvrier de France (Best Craftsman of France).
Former MOF winners include Paul Bocuse, Joël Robuchon, Michel Roth, Guillaume Gomez, Frédéric Anton, Philippe Etchebest, and more.
“Chef L’Hourre is truly an asset to our luxury property and perfectly aligns with our vision of elevating our food and beverage offerings across the resort,” said Stuart de San Nicolas, General Manager at Conrad Bora Bora Nui. “We pride ourselves in offering our guests exclusive and unique experiences, and we are assured Chef L’Hourre’s global perspective, culinary experience, bold flavors and creative presentations will bring that unmatched experience to Conrad Bora Bora Nui, as the only MOF in Bora Bora.”
With experience in the some of the world’s most reputable establishments such as Taillevent, George Blanc and the Tour d’Argent, Chef L’Hourre has been starred 3 times in the Michelin Guide®. Since 2013, he worked at the Marinca Hotel & Spa in Corsica having previously been at Paul Bocuse Institute in Lyon. A lifelong lover of gastronomy, particularly seafood, Chef L’Hourre is revered for his meticulous dedication to his craft, and for his beautiful gourmet dishes, known to seduce all of the senses.
