Moxy Hotels announced back in 2019 that the brand would launch in Tromso, Norway. Construction of the international lifestyle hotel has now begun with a scheduled opening in the first half of 2023. The 200 rooms will be certified by BREEAM as a sustainable building and by Green Key for sustainable operations.
“We are delighted to have begun construction of this extraordinary project. Daimyo is a Norwegian investment company that invests in sustainable companies and properties. And Moxy Tromso is no exception with high ambitions for sustainability, double certifying the property as both a BREEAM and Green Key hotel,” says Anne Aubert, Project Manager at Daimyo Eiendom AS.
Unique features
Tromso is a true lifestyle destination for adventurers looking for spectacular experiences in nature. “We are eager to open a unique hotel brand in Norway that differs from the market’s saturation of local brands. The natural beauty of Tromso is evident, so we decided to design the reception space and common areas on the top floor. This allows all our guests to enjoy the wonderful view from the 11th floor while they have a meal and cocktails from the bar,” says Per Denker Sørensen, CEO of the hotel operator Core Hospitality.
Per, who collaborates with the brand owner, Marriott International, further explains that Moxy Hotels was developed for travelers looking for an affordable hotel stay without compromising on style. Core Hospitality also operates Moxy Bergen and Moxy Copenhagen.
“We are very pleased that we are launching yet another new Moxy hotel in Norway. Moxy Tromso will be truly unique compared to the other hotel chains in the city. We are looking very much forward to operating Marriott’s northernmost hotel,” says Per Denker Sørensen.
