Frankfurt am Main, 4 October 2018 – Douglas Maxwell Glen has taken on the role of General Manager at the Steigenberger Hotel Riverside in Bangkok with effect from 1 October. 54-year old Mr. Glen, who is originally from the UK and is able to look back on 30 years of experience in the upscale hotel sector, will take charge during the pre-opening phase. He has held various management positions with prestigious hotel groups both at home and abroad, his most recent position being General Manager of “The Landmark Bangkok”.
Thomas Willms, CEO of Deutsche Hospitality, expressed his delight at the new appointment. “Douglas is an experienced expert in the branch who has also been living in Bangkok for the past five years. His wealth of international expertise and outstanding knowledge of the Asian hotel market make him a highly effective partner for us and will ensure a successful launch for our first hotel in Thailand.”
This upcoming new opening represents Deutsche Hospitality’s debut in South-East Asia. The five-star Steigenberger Hotel Riverside will open in the Thai capital city of Bangkok in the first quarter of 2020. It will offer 259 rooms, including deluxe rooms, suites and a three-bedroom Presidential Suite. There will also be a 900-square metre conference and banqueting area. A roof terrace on the 18th floor will provide guests with access to a roof top bar, a restaurant and a VIP lounge boasting breathtaking views of the vast city. The main restaurant is based on the 17th floor. A spa and gym area as well as an outdoor pool also belong to the hotel. The Steigenberger Hotel Riverside is set in a premium location on the banks of the Chao Phraya River within the immediate vicinity of Bangkok’s major sights. It also has its own jetty, from which shuttle boat tours will depart.
