April 19–A 107-room extended-stay hotel is being proposed for the Town of Brookfield.
The four-story Home2 Suites hotel would be developed on vacant parcels just off Larry Court, between Watertown and Blue Mound roads, north of I-94.
The hotel would be developed by Goerke’s Corner LLP, led by Jim Burkemper, president of Amcon Design & Construction Co., and North Liberty, Iowa-based hotel operator Kinseth Hospitality Cos., Burkemper said Saturday.
The developers are asking town officials to rezone the 3-acre site from office to hotel use. The Plan Commission on Tuesday will decide whether to set a public hearing on that request.
“This is the first step in the process,” Burkemper said. He said the developers don’t yet have a schedule for when they would begin construction.
It would be the second Home2 Suites developed in the Milwaukee area.
Middleton-based Raymond Management Co. last fall disclosed plans to develop a 110-room Home2 Suites next to Raymond’s Hilton Garden Inn at 5890 S. Howell Ave., just south of Mitchell International Airport. That project will cost $11 million to $13 million to build, according to Raymond.
Home2 Suites is a newer extended-stay brand owned by Hilton Corp.
A similar Hilton extended-stay brand, Homewood Suites, will be the franchise for a 140-room hotel being developed in the second phase of the Mayfair Collection, a new mixed-use project east of Highway 45 and north of W. Burleigh St., in Wauwatosa.
