Dr. Wise has been named by Real Estate Forum magazine as one of Rainmakers in Debt & Equity and has been a recent speaker at the monthly Mastermind Hospitality Zoom meetings.
Dr. Wise authors weekly electronic mail updates and chairs TCG’s Hospitality Investment Banking group, which provides both on and off-market transactional services; debt and equity placement; expert witness work for attorneys; consultant and advisory professional services to hotel owners; developers and commercial real estate investors. His team has provided clients with domestic business advice on more than $19.5 billion of healthy and distressed hotels and resorts, including in Hawaii and Alaska. This advisory work includes both traditional and specialty financing like C-PACE. TCG’s team has several large $30M to $40M C-PACE loans currently in pre-closing, and we often help clients provide alternative deal structures to finance a new-build or existing hospitality assets.

Dr. Donald W. Wise is the chair of TCG’s Hospitality Investment Banking Group, and he has been an investment banker for 39 years – 20 years with CBRE Hotels and three years with Johnson Capital, now Walker & Dunlop. He helps real estate developers and hotel and resort owners, other investment advisers, and investment managers raise and manage investment capital from U.S. and non-U.S. investors. He has represented hundreds of hotel and resort sponsors and real estate developers to obtain financing for projects for the development of hotels, multi-family, assisted living and mixed use developments throughout the U.S. His practice often involves the complex issues associated with hotels, resorts, vacation ownership properties, restaurants, golf courses and spas. Dr. Wise represents owners in the purchase and sale, development, construction, financing, leasing, and sale-leaseback of properties, and advises them on their branding and management agreements, including hotel management and franchise agreements. He and his team have helped distressed hotel owner in over $19 billion of complex problematic hospitality real estate issues.
