Scottsdale, AZ – March 31, 2022 – The Scottsdale Resort at McCormick Ranch, a 326-room property that will be undergoing a comprehensive multimillion-dollar enhancement later this summer, announced today the resort’s new senior leadership team that will lead the property as it emerges into the Curio Collection by Hilton, a global set of remarkable upscale hotels hand-picked for their unique character and personality.
Driftwood Hospitality, the resort’s management company, has assembled a team of longtime Valley hospitality professionals that include Area General Manager Alan Klein, Area Executive Chef Ken Arneson and Director of Sales and Marketing Tim Keough.
As the former general manager of Driftwood’s other Arizona property, Canopy by Hilton Tempe Downtown and recently named “General Manager of the Year” by the Canopy by Hilton brand, Klein is a veteran of the hospitality industry with more than three decades of experience, successfully leading nationally recognized hotels and resorts through multimillion-dollar openings, renovations and re-openings. In this new position, Klein will continue to oversee daily operations at Canopy Tempe as well as The Scottsdale Resort.
Arneson, a fourth-generation chef, will utilize his 14 years of expertise to serve in a dual role overseeing culinary operations at The Scottsdale Resort along with Canopy Tempe’s two dining destinations, Alter Ego and Alibi, where he formally served as executive chef.
Keough, who brings with him two decades of hospitality experience most recently at Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resorts, will lead The Scottsdale Resort’s sales, marketing and event management initiatives and also develop new activities and special events for the resort as it debuts following its rebranding.
“As we embark on this next chapter with The Scottsdale Resort as a team, we not only have extensive experience within our positions among upscale hotels and resorts, but also within the Hilton family of brands, making our collective skill set invaluable as the resort reinvents itself and joins the Curio Collection.” said Alan Klein, area general manager for Driftwood Hospitality Management.
The extensive update, which is the largest in the property’s nearly 50-year history, begins this summer. It will include upgrades to all guest rooms, common areas, amenity spaces, food and beverage outlets, 90,000 square feet of flexible event space and the spa, which will also be expanded. The largest undertaking will be converting The Stillman Building into a collection of two-story luxury villas, thereby reducing the overall room count to 278 when the resort is completed in early 2023. In order to not affect the guest experience, the upgrades will be done in phases and the property will remain open throughout the process.
