ROCHESTER — October 19, 2022 — Essex Hotel Management, LLC has added Crowne Plaza Lake Placid in Lake Placid, NY to its growing portfolio of hotels on the East Coast. This marks the first IHG property in the third-party hotel management company’s portfolio. Built in 1969, the property has been owned and operated by the Lussi family for more than 50 years. The hotel rebranded as a Crowne Plaza in 2005 after several expansions.

The addition of Crowne Plaza Lake Placid to our portfolio speaks volumes about what we’ve been able to accomplish as a company.”
Located in the center of the Village of Lake Placid, the 246-room property has extraordinary views of Mirror Lake and the Adirondack Mountains, including the High Peaks and Whiteface Mountain. All rooms include Keurig coffee makers, refrigerators, and microwaves and many have balconies overlooking the sweeping vistas. The suites in the newer Adirondack wing have kitchens, fireplaces, and balconies. Other amenities include MacKenzie’s Restaurant, the Adirondack Great Room and Bar, an indoor pool and a hot tub, and a fitness room. In addition, all guests have access to a private beach, the historic Lake Placid Club’s 45 holes of championship golf, and a cross country ski and snowshoe center. The property also has 22,000 square feet of flexible function space.

The Crowne Plaza is located adjacent to the Lake Placid Olympic Center, where the U.S. men’s hockey team defeated the Soviet Union and won the Olympic gold medal in 1980 and is just steps from the shops and restaurants in the charming Village.
