Nov. 21–BILOXI — IP Casino Resort has a new executive chef who, among his culinary accomplishments, cooked for Julia Child’s 80th birthday celebration.
Peter D’Andrea comes to IP Casino with 40 years of experience in the food and beverage industry and will oversee the menu development for the casino’s restaurants and catering services.
“I am very excited to join the outstanding team at IP Casino Resort Spa and look forward to bringing F&B to a new culinary level,” he said.
He also will develop and implement culinary training programs at the resort.
Following an apprenticeship, D’Andrea worked as a cook, sous chef and in restaurant management in New York City.
He later became the executive chef at the Fairmont San Francisco Hotel and the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville.
He also was the corporate chef for Marriott International.
D’Andrea was invited to compete three times as a guest chef at the James Beard Foundation’s Town House in New York City in the best hotel chef category, in addition to being invited to cook for Julia Child’s birthday.
He has been very active in the American Culinary Federation’s Adopt a Ship program. He also served as vice president of Distinguished Restaurants of North America, or DiRoNA, and is a member of the Resort Food Executive Committee.
