Fiesole, Italy ā€“ May 2020:Ā Ā Fiesoleā€™s iconic Il Salviatino welcomes General Manager Juan Miquel to lead the 42-room villa hotel as it enters a bright new era in hospitality that celebrates wellness, sustainability, and classic Italian tradition.

Juan joins Il Salviatino as the property embarks on a series of fascinating enhancements to its outdoor spaces, including a new spa and pool house within the propertyā€™s 12.5 acres of lush private park ā€“ a perfectly primed sanctuary nestled in nature. The new additions are due to be completed in time for the villaā€™s highly anticipated reopening in the spring of 2021, further expanding on Il Salviatinoā€™s wellness offerings, which include an expansive organic orchard and herb garden that deliciously influences the seasonal menus of the hotelā€™s restaurant, La Terrazza.Ā

ā€œIl Salviatino is a quintessential Italian retreat, with its idyllic location between the rolling hills of Chianti and the capital of the Renaissance, Florence. This period in time is a rebirth of sorts, and will be an important part of the villaā€™s rich, colorful history. I am humbled to be a part of the journey and to work closely with our team to evolve our approach to hospitality in a way that caters to new trends in travel while upholding a tradition of excellent service,ā€ said Juan.

Juan joins Il Salviatino by way of Castello Banfi ā€“ Il Borgo, where he was General Manager of the award-winning Tuscany wineryā€™s hospitality division, which comprised the 14-room Virtuoso and Relais & Chateaux luxury hotel, a historic castle, a wine shop and two restaurants. During his tenure, the property received numerous accolades, including ā€œTop 100 Hideaways in the Worldā€ by Andrew Harper, AFARā€™s Travelers Choice Award, and ā€œTop 10 Resort Hotels in Italyā€ in Travel + Leisureā€™s Worldā€™s Best Awards, among others. He arrives at Il Salviatino during the propertyā€™s reigning year as the ā€œ#1 Hotel in Florenceā€ in Conde Nast Travelerā€™s 2019 Readerā€™s Choice Awards.Ā

Previously, Juan was General Manager of Villa Mangiacane, a leading 28-room hotel in the Chianti area, where he oversaw operations of the propertyā€™s outlets, and liaised with staff across all departments to provide excellence in service to leisure and group guests alike.

A native of Mallorca, Spain, Juan has been living in Italy for 15 years. He has a passion for fine wine and languages, and looks forward to reconnecting with guests old and new at a reimagined Il Salviatino when it reopens on March 12, 2021.Ā
