GUANACASTE, COSTA RICA (September 19, 2017) – Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica at Peninsula Papagayo, the only Forbes Five-Star luxury resort in Central and South America, has named Michael Mestraud as the General Manager. A Four Seasons veteran, Mestraud brings to his role vast, international luxury hospitality experience. He will oversee all operations for the acclaimed property, which is presently underway with a USD 35 million re-imagination that will bring a striking new interpretation of modern eco-luxury to Costa Rica’s north Pacific coast in December 2017.
“I am thrilled to join the team at this unique resort that celebrates the rare beauty and alluring mystique of Peninsula Papagayo.” says Mestraud. “It is especially exciting to bring my own personal touches to the resort during this incredible time as our transformation elevates the already world-class accommodations and unparalleled service for which our property is so renowned.”
Prior to joining Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica, Mestraud most recently served as General Manager of Four Seasons Resort and Residences Jackson Hole, Resort Manager of Four Seasons Resort Biltmore Santa Barbara, and Director of Food and Beverage at Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora. Previous management experience includes roles at the Four Seasons Resort Provence at Terre Blanche, Four Seasons Hotel George V Paris and Four Seasons Hotel Chicago.
Mestraud’s appointment comes on the heels of the resort’s announcement signaling a resort-wide transformation, which began in August 2017 and encompasses a redesign of the resort’s 181 guest rooms, suites and villas, culinary concepts, signature pool area and arrival experience, among other updates and improvements across the property. The December 2017 debut of the re-imagined Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica will also mark the launch of a more than USD 100 million investments toward a major transformation of the 1,400-acre (570 hectare) Peninsula Papagayo – one of the premier residential and resort communities in the Americas.
