June 08, 2015 – TOKYO – Leading Japanese hospitality company Fujita Kanko Inc. announced two hotel openings in Kyoto, Japan in its Hotel Gracery group: Kyoto Teramachi in 2016 and Kyoto Shinkyogoku in 2017 (tentative names).
The two hotels will be constructed across from each other at a prime location in Kyoto near Shinkyogoku, the 140-year old famous shopping district. The neighborhood is also filled with temples and other sightseeing attractions, and is only fifteen minutes away by taxi, or just a few subway stops away, from Kyoto JR station, the main entry point for Kyoto.
The two hotels will strategically complement each other. All 97 rooms of Hotel Gracery Kyoto Teramachi will be double rooms while Hotel Gracery Kyoto Shinkyogoku’s 128 rooms will all be twin rooms so that guests can select their hotel according to their accommodation needs. Both hotel’s rooms are expected to have separate toilets/bathrooms. Both will offer breakfast menus featuring locally grown products.
“We are excited to be opening two new hotels in Kyoto, one of the most popular destinations in the world with a 2,500-year history, the ancient capital of Japan,” said Akira Segawa, President and CEO of Fujita Kanko. “Our hotels will offer ultimate convenience and comfort in style and at a reasonable cost. We have over 50 years of experience in hotel management in Kyoto. We are confident that we can make our properties stand out in this competitive hotel market to appeal to both domestic and international guests.”
According to the Kyoto City Tourism Bureau, the number of international visitors grew 35 percent in 2013 compared to 2012. Anticipating a growing number of visitors, designated staff at the hotels will provide local information and assistance with various activities. “Because we have properties throughout Japan, visitors can design a personalized itinerary staying with us, whether it’s starting from Kyoto or Tokyo,” adds Segawa. Fujita Kanko will also open Hotel Gracery Okinawa in 2016.
