Autograph Collection Hotels, Marriott International’s distinctive collection of passionately independent hotels, today announced its fourth hotel in Germany with the opening of Roomers Munich, located in the city’s burgeoning Westend.
“With its unparalleled location, immersive design and bespoke dining experiences , Roomers Munich perfectly embodies the exactly like nothing else ethos of the brand,” said Brian Povinelli, Senior Vice President and Global Brand Leader, Autograph Collection Hotels. “We are thrilled to welcome it to our growing global portfolio of 125 distinctive hotels around the world.”
Created by the visionary Gekko Group with an avant-garde approach to the hotel’s interiors led by Amsterdam design company, concrete, Roomers Munich boasts a refreshing individuality through its furnishings and flair that reflect an urban zeitgeist. The juxtaposition of natural materials – wood, leather and marble – perfectly contrast with polished copper elements through the public spaces; and the 281 thoughtfully designed guestrooms and suites subtly layer contemporary décor with unconventional touches and exceptional art, all evoking the feeling of an intimate boutique hotel. Additionally, each guestroom is equipped with a Bang & Olufsen Sound System, Nespresso Machine, Apple TV and Android Miracast to the free WiFi and well-stocked Room Bar.
The hotel’s restaurant, IZAKAYA Asian Kitchen & Bar, and its bars, Roomers Bar and Hidden Room, are destined to become fixtures of the city’s nightlife scene. IZAKAYA is part of the Amsterdam-based THE ENTOURAGE GROUP, co-founded and headed by Yossi Eliyahoo and managed by Stephanie Pearson. After recent openings in Hamburg and Ibiza this year, the Munich outpost is the fourth IZAKAYA restaurant.
The unique shared-dining concept offers modern Japanese cuisine with South American influences – flawlessly prepared by Executive Chef Hariprasad Shetty and his team. Time-honoured techniques blend with innovative signatures, creating a sophisticated menu of unconventional dishes. As in all IZAKAYA venues, the traditional Robata grill will be at the heart of the restaurant, giving centre stage to the chefs creating dishes like Temari Sushi, Kombujime, Corn Tempura, slow cooked Short Ribs and some Rabata specialities. Floating over the big communal table is a recurring element within IZAKAYA: an intricate fish mobile made of natural beech wood. The 360° black stained bar with onyx marble top offers a spot to sip selected wines, first-class cocktails, and an array of house-infused tonics with Japanese Shōchū as the base, as well as rare types of Sake.
Night owls will flock to Roomers Bar, inspired by the multiple award-winning Roomers Bar in Frankfurt. The beverage concept, based on fortified wines like vermouth, sake and sherry, has been created by bar chefs Dietmar Petri and Johannes Möhring. Another special feature is the Hidden Room, seating just 40 people, which will transport guests back to the 1960s through its design, cocktail culture and innovative DJ programme.
For guests looking for deep relaxation, the Roomers Spa by Shan Rahimkhan offers 600 square metres of uplifting space featuring five treatment rooms, an Infinity Jacuzzi, a bar, a projection screen, and day beds where snacks and drinks are served to help restore inner balance. Conferences and events are also superbly catered for across the hotel’s seven individual conference rooms, 850 square metre event area and two outdoor terraces accommodating up to 500 guests.
