Oranjestad, St. Eustatius, August 25, 2022 – Enviably situated on the Dutch Island of St. Eustatius (Statia), one of the last hidden gems in the Caribbean, Golden Rock Nature & Dive Resort is pleased to welcome Sally Glen as the property’s new Director of Sales and Marketing. With an illustrious career developing sales strategies for luxury hospitality brands around the world including the prestigious Gleneagles five star resort in Scotland, Accor International in Australia, and Marriott International in both Australia and Scotland, Glen will apply her business acumen as Golden Rock Resort prepares for its grand opening this winter.
“I’m excited to be working on such a stunning property and eager to help spread awareness of Statia’s rich history and biodiversity to intrepid travelers. It’s an island that deserves so much more recognition on the global stage,” said Sally Glen, Director of Sales and Marketing of Golden Rock Resort.
Glen launched her international hospitality career in 2007 upon selection for the Marriott Voyage Graduate Management Programme and quickly worked her way up the ranks from food and beverage operations, rooms operations, and finally into sales and marketing at the Sydney Harbour Marriott Hotel at Circular Quay. She was applauded as the #1 Sales Champion and #1 Lead Conversion Champion for Marriott Australia in 2014. Continuing this momentum, she spearheaded several multi-property roles with Accor International in Australia, before moving to Scotland for her most recent position as Regional Sales Manager for Gleneagles where she oversaw the entirety of the highly competitive European, Australian and Asian markets. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Glen is an avid sailor and scuba-diver which will put her right at home in Statia.
“We’re thrilled to add Sally to our growing executive team at Golden Rock Resort. In addition to her decades-long career, she shares the same passion for boosting the destination’s tourism in a way that preserves the authentic island experience,” said Peter Barnhoorn, CEO of Golden Rock Resort.
Golden Rock Resort, which opened its first phase in September 2021 with 32 ocean view suites, an infinity pool, tennis courts, wellness club, sustainable systems and fine-dining waterfront restaurant Breeze, is now preparing for its final phase which is set to debut this winter and will include 26 villas and 17 lodges, highly-anticipated beach club, yoga shala, and a greenhouse that pays homage to the owner’s passion for rare and tropical flowers. Offering guests an authentic natural island experience with a touch of adventure, the contemporary boutique hilltop resort spans 40 acres of lush gardens and is situated near the island’s signature “Quill,” the dormant volcano that’s one of the Caribbean’s most sought-after hiking spots.
Golden Rock Resort is the first and only upscale lifestyle resort on Statia which has signaled a new era of tourism for the destination as the largest hospitality development in the history of the island. Under Glen’s leadership, the property will continue to attract international travelers and adventure-focused groups that sustain and celebrate Statia’s culture.
