Norwalk, CT – October 1, 2021 – HEI Hotels & Resorts, a leading hospitality investment and management company, announced today that four veteran employees have been made principals in the business. These executives have been instrumental in delivering strong continued growth for the company, rising to meet the challenges of the pandemic. HEI currently owns and/or manages more than 80 best-in-class hotels.
The following executives have been made principals in HEI Hotels & Resorts.

Karl Murphy joined HEI in 2005, eventually achieving promotion to Chief Commercial Officer in 2021. With over 20 years of experience, Karl is responsible for devising sales, revenue and marketing strategies aimed at harnessing the commercial power of the organization to drive results. Prior to HEI, he held various corporate roles with brands such as Virgin, Bass PLC and The Body Shop International.
Dan Walworth has been with HEI since 2007 and was promoted from Executive Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer to Chief Strategy & Compliance Officer in 2021. Dan oversees HEI’s enterprise platforms and is responsible for ensuring the company’s programs, technologies, and resources align with its operating strategies. He has spent over 25 years developing and implementing innovative processes, systems and strategies across multiple industries.
Rachel Moniz joined HEI in 2008 and was promoted from Executive Vice President, Operations to Chief Operating Officer earlier this year. She is responsible for the day-to-day operations of HEI and works alongside the wider management team to set and achieve comprehensive goals for performance and growth. Rachel possesses expert knowledge in hospitality, having worked in several executive leadership positions for over 20 years in independent, luxury and lifestyle hotels prior to joining HEI.
Marcus Harris was named Chief Financial Officer in 2021. He oversees company and property level finances and manages accounting, investor relations, strategic planning and corporate strategy. He has brought to HEI more than 20 years of hospitality experience in both brand owned/operated assets, as well as independently owned/operated assets. Prior to joining the company in 2002, he held various roles with Starwood Hotels & Resorts and Marriott International.
