SHANGHAI and MCLEAN, Va., March 21, 2018 — Hilton (NYSE: HLT) and Plateno Hotels Group today celebrated the signing of the 200th hotel in Greater China as part of a master licence agreement, first announced in 2014.
Hampton by Hilton Dalian Labor Park hotel becomes the 200th signing, with nearly 30 having already opened across China. Since launch, a new hotel has been signed on average every six days, with sites located across 120 first and second-tier cities, provincial capitals and popular tourism destinations.
Alan Watts, President, Asia Pacific, said, "We are incredibly proud of the remarkable success of Hampton by Hilton in China and our partnership with Plateno, which has contributed to one in three of all hotels under construction in China carrying a Hilton brand*."
He continued, "This was a new and innovative business model and is going from strength to strength. There remains huge potential for the mid-scale segment in China and, together, we are well placed to capitalize and bring more choice of quality accommodations and Hampton by Hilton's signature hospitality to our guests."
The partnership was first created in recognition that China has a growing demand for the mid-scale hotel market, coupled with a low supply of hotels in that space. Hampton designed a mid-scale hotel prototype to fit top-tier cities in China, serving value-conscious, quality-driven business and leisure travelers.
"Together with Plateno we have proven that Hampton by Hilton can be a great success in China, with exceptional performance and customer feedback," said Qian Jin, President for Greater China & Mongolia, Hilton. "We believe Hampton by Hilton would be a wise choice for any investor, with many having already signed multiple sites."
A consistent interior design aesthetic distinguishes Hampton by Hilton in China as a brand projecting strength, value, fun and comfort. Public areas share the same look and function as Hamptonproperties outside of the Americas, with welcome and gathering zones, communal tables and on-property amenities, including fitness centers, a 24-hour snack shop and an all day dining restaurant. Every guest enjoys the brand's signature free, hot breakfast and free Wi-Fi in every room.
Plateno's focus on a collaborative, fun-spirited brand culture, one that empowers team members to exceed guest expectations and needs, is similar to Hampton's culture of Hamptonality, the brand's friendly and authentic approach to hospitality.
"We have big plans for Hampton by Hilton and the signing of the 200th project is an important step in the journey, owing to the trust and strong support between Hilton and Plateno," said Ms. Wang Wei, Vice President of Plateno Group and President of Plateno Hampton by Hilton. "In the future, we will keep strengthening our close cooperation with the investors and continuously provide high quality service and product to consumers. Moreover, we will devote ourselves to bringing new surprises to the market in product innovation and service upgrading."
With more than 30 Hampton by Hilton properties due to open this year in China, the next include Hampton by Hilton Harbin Haxi and Hampton by Hilton Shanghai Hongqiao NECC. They join more than 2,300 Hampton by Hilton properties worldwide, as well as more than 450 hotels across Hilton's brand portfolio in China, open and under development.
