NAPLES, Italy and MCLEAN, Va. – Hilton (NYSE: HLT) has signed a franchise agreement with Palazzo Caracciolo S.P.A. to open its first hotel in the Southern Italian city of Naples. The Britannique Hotel, located along the distinguished Corso Vittorio Emanuele, will join Curio Collection by Hilton, a global portfolio of more than 50 one-of-a-kind hotels and resorts handpicked for their unique character.
“We are excited to welcome The Britannique Hotel to Curio Collection by Hilton, as we make our debut in Naples in 2020,” said Mark Nogal, global head, Curio Collection by Hilton. “The signing of The Britannique Hotel highlights our commitment to expanding our collection in key destinations around the globe and providing unexpected and authentic experiences to guests, like enjoying unrivalled views over the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius while dining at the refreshed rooftop restaurant and bar.”
The hotel will be known as The Britannique Naples, Curio Collection by Hilton and will undergo a €25M restoration before welcoming its first guests in the second half of 2019. The restoration will re-establish the property, which first opened in 1870, as a one-of-a-kind destination within the city and revive its glory days as a symbol of 19th century charm. Once the restoration is complete, the hotel will boast 72 guest rooms and a refreshed rooftop restaurant and bar with unrivalled views over the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius.
“Naples is the gateway to Southern Italy and other timeless tourist destinations, including Pompeii, Sorrento and the pristine Amalfi Coast,” said Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president, development, EMEA, Hilton. “Tourist arrivals to the city increased by more than 17 percent last year, so the timing could not be better for Hilton to establish a presence here[1]. The Britannique Hotel joins more than 30 Curio Collection properties trading or under development in EMEA, and offers a stylish home for our debut in the city.”
“We are undertaking a significant restoration programme at The Britannique Naples, so it is important to us that the hotel begins its new life in association with a renowned international brand,” said Costanzo Jannotti Pecci, Palazzo Caracciolo S.P.A. “Curio Collection by Hilton is a natural fit for us as it provides a global commercial reach for the property whilst enabling us to maintain a distinctly local design and feel – important factors in preserving one of Naples’ most famous hotels.”
The Britannique Hotel will be part of Hilton Honors, the award-winning guest-loyalty program for Hilton’s 14 distinct hotel brands. Members who book directly have access to instant benefits, including a flexible payment slider that allows members to choose nearly any combination of Points and money to book a stay, an exclusive member discount, free standard Wi-Fi and the Hilton Honors mobile app.
This latest property adds to the Curio Collection’s growing global portfolio. Properties in its Italian portfolio include Grand Hotel Villa Torretta Milan Sesto, La Bagnaia Golf & Spa Resort Siena and Aleph Rome Hotel.
