WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (May 9, 2017) – The historic Williamsburg Inn, beloved by royalty and revolutionaries, reopens following the completion of the second phase of its most extensive renovation in 15 years. Honoring John D. Rockefeller Jr.’s standards of classic elegance and sophistication, the Williamsburg Inn retains its traditional charm while introducing updated luxury accommodations, a stunning new reflection pool entrance, world-class dining concepts and exquisite private event spaces.

Originally opened in 1937, the hotel preserves its 19th-century Regency architectural style while integrating contemporary themes. The Williamsburg Inn was conceived by Rockefeller, who oversaw the original design, construction and furnishing with his wife, Abby Aldrich Rockefeller.

Hotel Upgrades Upon arriving at the newly enhanced Williamsburg Inn, visitors experience an enchanting entrance with an all-new reflection pool that provides a lovely mirror image of the hotel. Guests step into the heart of luxury as they enter the lobby, which now showcases a fresh contemporary color scheme along with prominent iconic elements, including the hotel’s oval rug, chandeliers, original furniture pieces, mirrors and artwork. The lobby is designed to provide guests with an elevated, revitalized experience while also serving as a portal into the past.

Luxury Accommodations The 62 upgraded, spacious guestrooms are thoughtfully appointed with new in-room décor and modern amenities, completing the room redesign that began in the first phase of the renovation. State-of-the-art armoires with LED lighting, 40-inch flat screen televisions, Bose radios and Bartech minibars complement original English Regency-style furnishings such as chests, nightstands and desks. Beautifully framed period artwork graces the walls of every room. Themed luxury Queen’s, Churchill and Rockefeller suites will be revealed in June.

Exceptional Dining and Expanded Event Space The Williamsburg Inn unveils distinctive dining concepts. Menus throughout the dining venues pay homage to the evolution of a uniquely American cuisine that embraces Southern traditions with infusions of tastes and influences of cultures worldwide. Featuring locally sourced ingredients, the creative cuisine epitomizes the nouveau British approach to gastronomy: refined, worldly, sophisticated and adventurous with a nod to tradition.

The Rockefeller Room offers contemporary fine dining and is the Williamsburg Inn’s new signature dining experience. The restaurant is designed as an exceptional destination for locals, travelers and discerning guests alike. Influenced by Imperial British cuisine, the menu celebrates the abundant produce and high-quality meats of the Chesapeake Bay region and its long history of embracing international tastes.

The Social Terrace presents a new 7,000-square-foot patio extension adjacent to the main lobby that offers al fresco dining with a menu of shareable, inventive dishes including entrées, flatbreads and desserts. The beautiful gathering area highlights an outdoor bar, multiple seating areas and a gorgeous water feature set amongst picturesque views. The comfortable seating arrangements encourage guests to lounge and enjoy the beautiful landscape. The terrace bar will serve creative patio cocktails, local beer and outstanding wine selections. The Social Terrace is a notable addition to the hotel and is available for private social events with tenting capability.

The Goodwin and Terrace Rooms offer an upscale breakfast retreat and continue serving food and cocktails throughout the day.

The Restoration Bar provides guests a relaxing place to gather for a good drink and conversation. The menu features time-honored libations and culinary delights. Guests can find the Williamsburg Inn’s favorite spirits, fit for the modern palate, combined in cocktails that reflect the early influences of British global trade on colonial Virginia. The bar’s cocktails embrace time-honored luxury, paired with culinary delights that satisfy any craving.

The stately Queen’s Terrace has been expanded to offer 1,800 square feet of elegant private event space set against the backdrop of Colonial Williamsburg’s Golden Horseshoe Golf Club’s award-winning Gold Course.

The refreshed Regency Room is a 3,996-square-foot ballroom that is ideal for weddings and social events. The sophisticated group space, which features a contemporary and elegant atmosphere, will also host holiday brunches and dinners.
