Atlanta, GA – November 25, 2020 – Hotel Colee opens December 1 in Buckhead as a member of Autograph Collection Hotels. Each of the almost 200 hotels in this diverse and dynamic global portfolio is carefully curated with vision, passion and dedication to craft. Selected for their distinct perspectives on design and hospitality, Autograph Collection Hotels offer enriching experiences that leave a lasting imprint and Hotel Colee is no exception. In creating the neighborhood’s first Autograph Collection hotel, owner Woodbine Development Corporation and operator Practice Hospitality, both of Dallas, TX, have crafted nothing less than the feather in Buckhead’s cap.
Atlanta is forever evolving and Hotel Colee is a reflection of the city’s energy, diversity and flourishing culture. Woodbine tapped the team at Practice Hospitality to bring Hotel Colee to locals and travelers alike in Buckhead, based on their experience in the independent space. T. Dupree Scovell, Managing Partner and CIO of Woodbine Development Corporation, sums up the approach by saying, “Travelers trust Autograph Collection Hotels and the experience they provide, especially in times of uncertainty, and we believe there is no better partner to deliver on that promise than Practice.”
Buckhead is a magnet for Atlanta residents and visitors alike and Hotel Colee gives those who visit an excuse to celebrate and permission to ‘put their feathers on.’ As Bashar Wali, President & CEO of Practice Hospitality, explains, “From design, to service to programming, our aim is to be a charming accomplice in having a good time. Now, more than ever, I think we all appreciate the importance of celebrating the moment. Our hope is to enable guests to both get down to business and live it up.”
To that end, Andrew Alford, principal of Andrew Alford Creative and former director of design for Graduate Hotels, brought his imaginative, eclectic eye to the hotel’s interiors – remixing classic Southern style signatures –pastel, prints and pops of vibrant color – to create an atmosphere that encourages guests to embrace their essence, feel their best, and go ahead and put on that statement piece. Taking on Autograph Collection’s mantra of being ‘exactly like nothing else’, from the moment they arrive and pull into the port cochere, guests feel it. In the lobby, wallcoverings, velvet banquettes and sheer window treatments in soft lavender hues surround intimate and well distanced center seating groups upholstered in an explosion of color and pattern. The juxtaposition beckons those who pass through the space to stay awhile as this is the place to see and be seen…and maybe memorialize the occasion with an Instagram shot or two.
The lobby’s most iconic moment reimagines one of the cornerstones of Southern culture and community: the barber shop and beauty parlor where historically we have gone to look and feel our best. At Hotel Colee, what you wear is an expression of self – and no outfit or celebration is complete without the last hair in place or the perfect accessory. Alford evokes this with vintage barber chairs reupholstered and reimagined in patterns that complement those throughout the rest of the space. Much more than just a social media moment, this space pays homage to the role barber shops and beauty parlors serve as community centers. Hidden retail shelving for pop up trunk shows highlighting local makers, designers, and artists will anchor events and activations.
Upstairs, the hotel’s guest rooms boast eye-catching design elements like open-front, mirrored-back wardrobes, cozy window seats and walls adorned with prints by Lela Brunet. An artist, muralist, designer and native Georgian, Brunet’s works contrast soft female figures with energetic patterns, color and texture. The fourth-floor rooftop infinity pool overlooks Peachtree Road and pairs birds’ eye views of the neighborhood with plenty of privacy. The fitness center is open by appointment to facilitate social distance and safety protocols with equipment for cardio, strength training and more.
Hotel Colee’s lobby is where swagger hangs its hat and the lobby bar is the perfect spot for small bites and sips: morning, noon or night. When it’s time to step out and step it up, guests can take the glass walled elevator up to Whiskey Blue and enjoy expertly crafted cocktails under the stars on the rooftop patio high above Buckhead. Those keeping a low profile also have the option to order from in-room dining and relax in the privacy of their guestroom.
With celebration in mind, Hotel Colee will feature 10,000 square feet of adaptable indoor and outdoor event space, perfect for everything from micro-weddings to well-spaced business gatherings. Venues range from the expansive 4,005 sq. ft. Show Room to the intimate 529 sq. ft. Strategize space which is ideal for small gatherings with your bubble of best people.
