Hotel Palomar Los Angeles – Beverly Hills, located just minutes from the heart of Beverly Hills on the famed Wilshire Boulevard, embarks on an $11 million property-wide renovation this winter. The encore performance of the design-driven boutique hotel, set to debut February 2017, features the launch of a new dining concept as well as a comprehensive renovation to all 264 guest rooms and public spaces.
“Hotel Palomar Los Angeles – Beverly Hills’ complete renovation will reflect the rhythm of Los Angeles, layering the rebellious spirit and energy of a studio sound stage with subtle cool, sophisticated California style,” said Ed Virtue, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants’ Area Director of Operations for Southern California and General Manager of Hotel Palomar Los Angeles – Beverly Hills. “We can’t wait to invite locals and travelers alike to experience our new unconventional character and bold vibe as they create their own stories and experiences with us.”
A tribute to the film industry seen through an industrial-modern design lens, the reimagined Hotel Palomar Los Angeles – Beverly Hills draws inspiration from the maverick world of independent film with cinematic moments infused throughout the hotel and restaurant. Materials, such as scaffolding sourced from old sound stages, are repurposed and effortlessly crafted as sculptural elements. Theatrical lighting and layers of black steel, corrugated metal panels and aluminum offer a sophisticated juxtaposition against a subdued neutral color palette. Leading the redesign of the Hotel Palomar is the award-winning, Seattle-based Dawson Design Associates.
Hotel Palomar Los Angeles – Beverly Hills’ flexible public spaces embrace the demands of modern travelers with an eye toward conversation, connectivity and a sense of community. Warm, natural woods wrap the ceiling, walls and floors of the lobby while dramatic lighting, filtered through a layer of perforated rusted metal that spans from entryway to behind the front desk, creates an intriguing ambiance. A dramatic fireplace inspired by the lens of a camera will entice guests into the lobby where hidden discoveries lie behind large sliding stage doors: the hotel lobby bar, an oversized rolling theatrical backdrop of a gorilla, and a dynamic game room complete with a dartboard, shuffleboard table, pool table, Skee Ball, video games and dual 4K high-definition televisions to provide guests with playful diversions.
The interconnected public spaces will seamlessly flow into Hotel Palomar Los Angeles – Beverly Hills’ new bar and restaurant concept, which plays a starring role in the hotel’s redesign. Energetic, social and vibrant, the new dining scene will feature menus of thoughtfully prepared dishes highlighting ingredients of the season and innovative craft cocktails.
Scenes in the guest rooms, artfully anchored by black and white murals that cover an entire wall, include all-new minimalistic furnishings in shades of black, white and gray to provide a sense of elegant simplicity.
