ATLANTA, (September 6, 2024) – Hyatt Centric Midtown Atlanta, located in the heart of the city, is excited to announce its property-wide renovation. The renovation is inclusive of guestrooms, meeting and event spaces, the lobby and market, the 24-hour fitness center, the indoor saltwater pool and its on-site restaurant and bar. The restaurant has been completely rebranded and has been renamed, Author’s Den; complete with a reimagined space, a new Executive Chef and carefully curated menus.
The multimillion-dollar redesign celebrates Atlanta’s countercultural movement in the 1970s, which focused on activism, creating a sense of community, and cultivating arts and education. All 194 guest rooms have been renovated to reflect the ‘70s with a fresh new look using colors and inspiration from nature, mid-century modern furnishings and retro ar. You will find subtle design touches such as feathers symbolizing the free-spiritedness of the community, depictions of clouds and green curtains representing the proximity to Piedmont Park and the lush greenery of Midtown Atlanta, and retro artwork of The Great Speckled Bird – a progressive underground newspaper that ran from 1968 to 1976.
“We are excited to share our design story and honor Atlanta’s unique history that shaped Midtown into the vibrant hub and community it is today,” said Eileen Gago, General Manager at Hyatt Centric Midtown Atlanta. “We look forward to ushering in a new era while staying true to our roots. We can’t wait to provide Midtown with a refreshed space, welcome guests into our beautiful rooms, and also introduce our new restaurant.”
The restaurant, formerly named Fork & Juniper, is now being rebranded to Author’s Den. The restaurant will serve Southern food with a global twist and locally-sourced ingredients. The name pays homage to the hotel’s close proximity to the Margaret Mitchell House, where pieces of Gone with the Wind were written, and where Boyd Lewis, a late photojournalist who was known for being an advocate for social change, lived. An announcement sharing the opening date of Author’s Den along with more details and images will be shared in September.
