LENOX, MA (February 1, 2018) – The iconic Blantyre, one of New England’s most legendary resorts, is set to embark on a new chapter that pays homage to its storied past, while reimagining its future as the Berkshires’ premier luxury destination.
Today, Blantyre announces that the hotel will join the Ocean House Management (OHM) Collection of prestigious hotels including Ocean House, Weekapaug Inn and Watch Hill Inn, in Westerly, Rhode Island.
Blantyre’s new owner Linda S. Law, a long-time Silicon Valley real estate developer and investor, will relaunch with OHM this Relais & Châteaux and Forbes Five-Star property in April 2018 following a multimillion dollar renovation. Nestled on 110 scenic acres, the countryside estate is one of the 12 remaining gilded age mansions in the Berkshires that opened at the turn of the century.
Blantyre’s transformation will honor its rich heritage and will marry classic design with modern conveniences and amenities. The aesthetics will reflect old world glamour with chic and comfortable touches throughout the resort’s public spaces, eight Main House Suites, 11 Carriage House Suites, and four expansive Cottages.
Interiors will feature a curated design to bring out the best in the historic architecture and the beautiful, natural setting. Thoughtfully selected color palettes will be complemented by timeless fabric prints and pops of color from shades of blues to grays, moss green and lavender.
“We are honored and thrilled to work with Blantyre Hotel Ventures in stewarding Blantyre to the next stage of its history,” said Daniel Hostettler, President and Group Managing Director of OHM. “The combination of Blantyre and the OHM Collection is a dynamic association. Our intent is to operate Blantyre at the same high standards of service as the OHM Collection. We will honor traditions of the past while creating a renewed sense of place for guests seeking luxury, grandeur and unique experiences in the Berkshires.”
Ms. Law, who had her sights set on the purchase of Blantyre since she first visited the hotel 35 years ago, noted that OHM Collection is the right operator at the right time. “A key consideration for us selecting a business partner for this country manor hotel was to find one who would continue the careful conservancy and enhancement of this magnificent estate,” said Ms. Law.
To complement its natural surroundings, Blantyre will be a destination for food connoisseurs. In April, Blantyre Bistro will debut, serving classic dishes with locally sourced ingredients in a lively French bistro setting. The dramatic space’s stunning architecture and original wood carvings will be accentuated by monotone shades of blues and grays, rich velvet, plush pillows and modern seating. This spring, the resort will also unveil The Conservatory at Blantyre, a fine dining restaurant and outdoor dining terrace overlooking lush, tiered lawns.
As part of Blantyre’s unparalleled culinary program, guests and the local community can enjoy a robust calendar of educational activities and food-focused events throughout the year. Blantyre is also home to one of New England’s most expansive and impressive private wine cellars featuring 10,000 bottles, and the newly created LaCave private tasting room.
The Retreat at Blantyre, the property’s transformed spa, will provide a tranquil retreat and bespoke experiences. The spa will feature four treatment rooms, and a water suite with deep soaking tub and private shower. In addition, guests will be able to enjoy a sauna and Eucalyptus steam room, relaxation lounge with Vitality Bar, fitness center, meditation garden, and spa cuisine menu. Treatments will include massage, facial and body treatment therapies.
For guests who want to take advantage of Blantyre’s picturesque grounds, country pursuits include tennis, hiking, croquet, an outdoor swimming pool, and seasonal activities such as snow shoeing, ice skating, cross country skiing and horse drawn carriage rides. Blantyre is situated next to the area’s 18-hole golf course. Blantyre is conveniently located near many of the top attractions in the Berkshires, including Tanglewood, a live music venue; as well as other historical and educational experiences, including the Rockwell Museum, the Clark Museum and Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art.
