Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, one of the six brands in IHG Hotels & Resorts’ Luxury & Lifestyle Collection continues its growth momentum in Thailand with the unveiling of Kimpton Khao Yai. This is the third Kimpton to sign in Thailand following the brand’s debut in 2020.
Opening in 2024, the 100-room luxury wellness resort Kimpton Khao Yai will offer barefoot luxury across every touchpoint of the guest experience. Capturing the Kimpton brand’s playful and sophisticated design, innovative approach to restaurants and bars, and immersive guest experiences that foster genuine human connections, it will offer a fresh perspective on hospitality in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Khao Yai.
Located within Pak Chong, the resort will offer scenic mountain views across all of its 70 rooms and 30 pool villas. Guests will enjoy Kimpton’s innovative culinary experiences in its restaurants and locally-inspired drinks in its lobby bar, along with its famed daily Social Hour. Other facilities include a meeting space measuring 50 square metres, swimming pool, fitness centre, spa and resort centre.
Serena Lim, Vice President, Development, South East Asia and Korea, IHG said:
“Kimpton continues to strengthen its positioning in Thailand with Kimpton Khao Yai. We have seen a lot of interest for the brand since we opened Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok in the middle of the pandemic to much fanfare, becoming a much-loved and popular destination for Bangkok residents and their pets. The signing of Kimpton Koh Samui swiftly followed and now the third Kimpton has been signed in Thailand. This is such a fantastic testament to the strength of the brand in both city and resort locations and is very much part of our plan to grow our luxury and lifestyle portfolio in Thailand by 50% in the next few years.
“We feel privileged and excited to work with Nusasiri Public Company for our first project together in beautiful Khao Yai. They are a highly experienced property developer in Thailand, and we appreciate the trust that they have placed in IHG as the resilience of our brands and power of IHG systems and enterprise come to the fore in the current environment.”
Khun Visanu Thepchareon, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Nusasiri Public Company Limited said:
“Thailand is opening its borders to international travel and I am confident that the travel industry will rebound strongly. We want to establish a strong foothold in hospitality and are excited to work with IHG to bring the Kimpton brand to Khao Yai.
“We strongly believe that Kimpton’s heartfelt approach to hospitality, offering thoughtfully curated and meaningful experiences coupled with locally-loved and innovative restaurants and bars makes it the ideal choice for the Nusa Ozone mixed use development project. Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok launch was extremely well-received and set the standards for a distinctive, lifestyle-led hotel experience. We are confident that Kimpton Khao Yai will be a resounding success and further elevate Khao Yai as a luxury and lifestyle resort destination for local and international travellers.”
Blessed with a lush mountainous landscape and all year cool climate, Khao Yai boasts a wealth of natural wonders including stunning waterfalls and fertile valleys. A two-hour drive from Bangkok, it is a popular luxury resort destination for city dwellers seeking a scenic weekend getaway.
Situated north of Khao Yai National Park and within Pak Chong, Kimpton Khao Yai will be part of the Nusa MyOzone Project, a 600-acre integrated resort which will include an 18-hole golf course, retail and recreational facilities including an organic farm, hotels and residences, and a private airport. Guests will enjoy easy access and proximity to nearby waterparks, adventure theme parks, award-winning vineyards and golf courses, as well as outdoor adventure experiences in Khao Yai National Park.
This signing is part of Kimpton’s continued momentum in new urban and resort destinations across Asia. After openings in Taipei, Tokyo and Bangkok, Kimpton Koh Samui will be the second Kimpton hotel to open in Thailand with Kimpton Naranta Bali, at Indonesia’s Nusa Dua, following shortly after.
Thailand continues to be a strong growth market for IHG, with 29 hotels across eight brands in the country and another 34 properties in the pipeline. The new signings are part of the company’s aim to double the size of IHG’s estate in Thailand within the next five years and grow its Luxury and Lifestyle portfolio in Thailand by 50%.
