JACKSON, Miss., Aug. 010, 2016 — InterMountain Management is pleased to announce that it has named Tina Smith, a longtime hotel executive, general manager of the new Residence Inn by Marriott in Jackson, Miss., an anchor property slated to open in August in The District at Eastover, a leading-edge mixed-use development taking shape in the heart of Metro Jackson.
The new four-story, 95-room Residence Inn will be the first new hotel in this area of Jackson in more than a decade.
Smith previously served as director of sales for the Marriott Jackson, where she worked for 19 years, overseeing all aspects of sales strategy at the renovated 303-room property in downtown Jackson. Her tenure at that hotel began in 1997, when the property was a Crowne Plaza flagship that eventually became a Marriott hotel.
Smith began her hospitality career in 1995 at another Residence Inn property in Jackson, where she was a sales manager.
"We are thrilled to have Tina’s veteran leadership to open our new Residence Inn in The District, one of the most exciting and innovative developments taking shape in the Southeast,” said Dewey Weaver, owner of InterMountain Management. “This development will be a hub of activity for thousands of visitors, employees, residents and neighbors. Our new hotel offers them a seamless blend of modern style and functionality that allows them to settle in, thrive and soak up all The District has to offer."
The Residence Inn is perfect for business travelers or families who prefer added comfort in an amenity-rich urban environment. Each suite will feature a sitting area, business desk with ergonomic chair, and complimentary Wi-Fi with high-speed Internet. Other amenities helping guests maintain a healthy lifestyle include a hot breakfast buffet, complimentary evening socials, swimming pool, exercise facility, outdoor patio fireplace and fellowship area, meeting rooms, business center and on-site laundry.
Another anchor property – One Eastover Center – the signature 125,000-square-foot Class A office building, opened earlier this year and is home to Baker Donelson and Cosmich Simmons & Brown law firms, as well as the Ross & Yerger insurance agency.
