Outbound Travel Departures from the United States by U.S. Citizens Totaled 7,050,562 in February 2024, an Increase of 14.1% Compared to February 2023
Data recently released by the National Travel and Tourism Office (NTTO) show that in February 2024:
 International Arrivals to the United States
- Total non-U.S. resident international visitor volume to the United States of 4,735,844 increased +14.7% compared to February 2023 and represented 93% of the pre-COVID total visitor volume reported for February 2019.
- Overseas visitor volume to the United States of 2,253,174 increased +25.8% from February 2023.
- Of the top 20 tourist generating countries to the United States, Canada (with 1,411,746), was the only country that reported a decrease in visitor volume in February 2024 compared to February 2023, with a -4.4% change.
- The largest number of international visitor arrivals was from Canada (1,411,746), Mexico (1,070,924), the United Kingdom (262,478), Japan (147,437) and Brazil (144,089). Combined, these top 5 source markets accounted for 64.1% of total international arrivals.
 International Departures from the United States
- Total U.S. citizen international visitor departures from the United States of 7,050,562 increased 14.1% compared to February 2023 and were +11.3% higher than total departures in pre-pandemic February 2019.
- The market share for North America (Mexico & Canada) was 52.1% and overseas was 47.9%.
- Mexico recorded the largest outbound visitor volume of 3,012,255 (42.7% of total departures in February.
- The Caribbean was the second largest market for outbound U.S. visitors with 959,323 departures (13.6% of total departures in February)
- Combined, Mexico (6,212,456) and the Caribbean (1,842,822) accounted for 57.6% of total U.S. citizen international visitor departures year-to-date (YTD).
