MILWAUKEE, Wis. (Jun. 27, 2018) – Janko Hospitality, a Chicago-based operator of Midwestern hotels, opened a new Hyatt Place hotel today at The Brewery in Milwaukee. Hyatt Place Milwaukee/Downtown, a 150-room, six-story hotel, is located in the heart of this rapidly redeveloping historical neighborhood as well as one block away from Milwaukee’s much-anticipated entertainment district and new Milwaukee Bucks arena.

“Located between a booming neighborhood full of history and exciting new sports and entertainment opportunities, Hyatt Place Milwaukee/Downtown offers a great new hotel option for out-of-towners, visiting sports fans and even locals looking to see a new side of Milwaukee,” said Director of Sales Jennifer Terpstra, Hyatt Place Milwaukee/Downtown.

Terpstra recently joined Janko Hospitality to serve as Director of Sales for the new hotel. A Racine native and graduate of University of Wisconsin-Parkside, Terpstra recently served as Director of Sales and Marketing for a Crowne Plaza hotel before joining the Janko team.

The contemporary hotel is located on the eastern edge of Milwaukee’s vibrant and historical Brewery District, the former home of the Pabst Brewing Complex, at 800 W. Juneau Avenue. It is the first Hyatt Place hotel in downtown Milwaukee and the first Milwaukee hotel to be operated by Janko Hospitality, which manages other select and full-service properties throughout the Midwest.

The interior design of the new Hyatt Place hotel features subtle and elegant references to its athletic surroundings, including a basketball-net inspired backdrop at the registration desk, basketball-themed artwork in the guestrooms and a feature ceiling in the lobby evoking the floor of a basketball court.

One-of-a-kind modern lobby design means that the Hyatt Place Host Desk also serves coffee and cocktails. The combination check-in desk and bar features a mini Starbucks in the mornings and transforms into a full-service bar in the evenings. All Gallery Hosts are cross trained to both check guests in and serve them drinks, including locally-brewed beer from Lakefront Brewery, MKE Brewing, Explorium Brewpub, and Pabst, which can be enjoyed on the hotel’s outdoor public terrace overlooking the new Bucks arena.

The new hotel boasts more than 1,700 square feet of meeting space and an oversized fitness center on the first floor, and the sixth floor offers raised ceilings in hallways and rooms as well as raised showerheads for athletes taking advantage of the hotel’s proximity to the new basketball arena.
