July 9, 2015 – Santa Monica, Calif.—Shore Hotel, the leader in sustainability among Santa Monica’s luxury hotels, announces the appointment of hotel veteran Joe Velasquez to its executive team as general manager. Velasquez brings more than two decades of experience in the luxury hotel business, including success at impressive brands in California, Arizona, and Hawaii.

Velasquez was most recently the director of sales and marketing at The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles. Prior to that, he was acting general manager during the ownership transition at Fairmont Scottsdale Princess in Arizona, which included being responsible for high profile events such as the PGA’s Phoenix Open and Super Bowl XLII. Before joining the Fairmont, he directed the sales, marketing, and public relations efforts at Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua in Maui, Hawaii.
Prior to Hawaii, Velasquez spent eight years in director positions for Hyatt properties, including the Hyatt Regency Phoenix, Hyatt Regency La Jolla, and Park Hyatt Los Angeles. In honor of his successful efforts in repositioning the Park Hyatt Los Angeles, Velasquez was nominated for Director of Sales and Marketing of the Year for Hyatt Hotels & Resorts.
Velasquez attended Widener University and Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton where he studied business management.
