Hammons Hotels & Resorts (JQH) today announced Nigel Cossey’s promotion to general manager at the company’s Courtyard by Marriott Dallas Allen at the John Q. Hammons Center in Texas. Located in a thriving suburb north of Dallas, this newly renovated, 2017 TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence hotel is in a prime location near the Allen Event Center and The Village at Allen outdoor shopping mall. Cossey most recently served as assistant general manager at JQH’s award-winning Embassy Suites by Hilton San Marcos Hotel, Conference Center & Spa in San Marcos, Texas. He has more than 20 years of hospitality experience, with a specialization in food and beverage operations. Springfield, Missouri-based JQH owns and operates the 228-room/suite Courtyard Dallas Allen property under license from Marriott International, Inc. or one of its affiliates. JQH is a leading private, independent owner and manager of hotels in the United States and also operates more than 1 million square feet of superb meeting space.

Prior to Cossey’s promotion to general manager at JQH’s refreshed Courtyard Dallas Allen property, he served as interim general manager at JQH’s 283-suite Embassy Suites by Hilton Hotel, Conference Center & Spa in San Marcos, which features 65,000 square feet of meeting function space. Under his strategic leadership, the hotel received a designation for outstanding profitability performance. Prior to joining JQH in 2015, Cossey was director of food and beverage at the 405-room Myrtle Beach Marriott Resort & Spa at Grand Dunes in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. His extensive career also includes his role as area director of food and beverage for several properties that were operated by Hospitality Ventures Management Group (HVMG), including the AAA Four Diamond The Shores Resort & Spa in Daytona Beach Shores, Florida.
Cossey is a member of the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA). He is active in the local lodging community, including participating on boards for The Hotel Association (THA) and the Allen/Fairview Hotel Association. With his extensive food and beverage background, feeding the hungry is a priority with Cossey. He is supportive of JQH’s Legacy of Giving, the philanthropic initiative that allows JQH’s more than 4,000 passionate associates the opportunity to personally get involved in a centralized giving program with Convoy of Hope, where $10 a month can feed a child for an entire month internationally or provide $100 in food, goods and services to a family in need in the United States.
