Dubai, 24 May: Jumeirah Group, the Dubai-based luxury hotel company and a member of Dubai Holding has appointed Winston Chien, as General Manager at Jumeirah Himalayas Hotel, a landmark property set in Shanghai's Pudong District.
Winston Chien started his new role in April 2017 and joined Jumeirah Group after five years as Vice President, China, at Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group Asia Pacific. Prior to this he worked as Assistant General Manager at Hong Kong Resort International and from 2008 – 2010 he worked for Jumeirah in the Jumeirah Group China representation office.
In his new role, Chien who speaks English and Mandarin, will be responsible for running the Jumeirah Himalayas Hotel which offers 393 rooms, 45 suites and a Presidential Suite. The property is located within the wider Himalayas Center which includes a shopping mall, art museum and theatre.
Chien brings a wealth of experience from his 34 year career in the luxury hospitality business which includes 24 years with Hilton. He began his career at the Kahala Hilton, Hawaii and then worked at the Guam Hilton in the Mariana Islands, east of Manila. Subsequent roles included Resident Manager at Hilton Shanghai, General Manager at Hilton Shenzhen and Chien was part of the pre-opening team at Tokyo Bay Hilton, Japan.
Jumeirah Group currently operates 21 hotels in 9 destinations across the Middle East, Europe and Asia. Jumeirah has eight Hotel Management Agreements in place in China and Jumeirah Nanjing is set to open in late 2017.
