KEY WEST, FL (March 16, 2020) – Today, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants announces the opening of Winslow’s Bungalows, the first hotel in the new five-hotel Kimpton Key West collection. This marks the sixth outpost for the boutique hospitality company in the Sunshine State and its first in the Florida Keys. Across all five of the hotels, spread across six blocks in Key West’s historic Old Town, no two rooms in the collection’s 219 total keys are the same. A complete reimagining of the Historic Inns of Key West, accommodations span everything from estate-like guesthouses to charming bungalows and original conch houses, each with its own distinct story and stay experience, blending timeless architecture with an eclectic, bohemian style only found in Key West.
The collection’s largest property at 85 rooms, Winslow’s Bungalows spans a lush, landscaped campus in the center of Key West just two blocks off Duval Street on Truman Avenue, offering a spacious and relaxing oasis and bringing the best of the destination to life. Featuring an eclectic array of signature Key West architecture, some property structures date back to the nineteenth century, including both the oldest home and the oldest lodging on the island. Winslow’s Bungalows offers a resort-like experience that is ideal for both couples and larger groups, including families and wedding parties.
Following the opening of Winslow’s Bungalows, Ella’s Cottages and Ridley House are the next two hotels slated to open later this spring. Ridley House offers an intimate “front porch” stay perfect for longer visits and a more high-end, romantic setting ideal for honeymooners and VIPs, respectively. Ella’s Cottages extends a peaceful atmosphere surrounded by refreshing greenery, best for group and extended stays. Then, Lighthouse Hotel and Fitch Lodge will round out the collection. Unveiled one hotel at a time, the collection shines light on historic elements from each hotel’s place in the colorful history of the island, while weaving unifying design and experiential elements of the collection throughout. The design story of Kimpton Key West, brought to life by LA-based designers Powerstrip Studio, carries across all five of the hotels mixing laid-back Caribbean style with elements of Victorian and Colonial architecture and featuring furniture, lighting and artwork in the rooms that are custom to the collection.
“It is so exciting to welcome the first guests to the collection and begin this exciting new era in Key West,” said Cheryl Martin, Kimpton Key West’s General Manager. “These hotels embody the inclusive spirit and culture of Key West, and we look forward to showing our guests Kimpton’s signature heartfelt hospitality as they experience our unique destination.”
Upon arrival to Kimpton Key West, guests check in at reception and receive a welcome glass of Key West’s own Waterfront Brewery craft beer to officially begin island time and set the tone for their stay. Every hotel features its own pool, chic hammocks and communal gathering spots where daily breakfast is hosted and guests can socialize in style. Other beloved Kimpton amenities such as complimentary PUBLIC bikes, in-room yoga mats and a liberal pet-friendly policy round out the stay experience.
In the spirit of sustainability, Kimpton Key West has also partnered with the local nonprofit Save a Turtle, on the “Show the Sea Your Love” package. This local organization is dedicated to enhancing and protecting, through preservation and conservation, endangered and threatened sea turtle species and their habitat in the Florida Keys. For each reservation made under the opening offer, Kimpton Key West will donate $15 and adopt a turtle in the guest’s honor.
