InterContinental Hotels Group® (IHG) will debut its luxury boutique brand Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants® in two new markets this October with Kimpton Shinjuku Tokyo opening on October 2, 2020 in Japan and Kimpton Bangkok Maa-Lai opening on October 1, 2020 in Thailand. The much-anticipated openings mark Kimpton’s expansion in Asia and rounds out the brand’s global presence in some of the world’s most exciting cities including London, Amsterdam, Barcelona and Taipei.
Founded in 1981 by Bill Kimpton, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants pioneered luxury boutique hotels in the US, delivering distinctive, design-driven hotels and award-winning restaurant and bar destinations. The Kimpton ethos is built on enabling heartfelt human connections, brought to life through its ridiculously personalized service style and touches such as Wine Hour, a hosted nightly wine hour for guests to gather and connect. The brand is set to continue its momentum of openings with over 30 new hotels in exciting destinations including Bali and Paris in April 2021, and Hong Kong and in Malaysia in 2023.
A first look at the Kimpton Shinjuku Tokyo experience
Inspired by New York’s art and fashion scene, the luxury hotel will open in the bustling heart of Shinjuku – one of Tokyo’s most iconic areas – offering unique guest experiences built on Kimpton’s signature heartfelt service.
Kimpton Shinjuku Tokyo will open in the colorful and energetic district of Shinjuku, renowned as the hub of creativity, entertainment and trend-setting fashion. Located close to the iconic Shibuya Crossing and Shinjuku Station – the world’s busiest station – Kimpton balances its calming design with the energy of the city and nearby attractions including Yoyogi Park and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Buildings. Kimpton marks the first international hotel brand to open in the district in 26 years.
Kimpton Shinjuku Tokyo will unveil 151 design-led guest rooms, three meeting and event spaces, a health and fitness centre, and a chapel on level 16 doubling as an immersive art gallery for exclusive exhibits. Dynamic and eclectic dining experiences take centre stage, including District, a modern Tokyo Brasserie with outdoor terrace and bar for sophisticated evening cocktails, and an all-day New York-inspired deli café, The Jones, for morning espressos or local craft beers.
