SIOUX FALLS, S.D. & SPRINGFIELD, Mo.–(June 16, 2016)–John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts (JQH) today announced Kraig Pomrenke is the new general manager of JQH’s owned and operated Sheraton Sioux Falls & Convention Center in South Dakota. With extensive hospitality experience in Sioux Falls, Pomrenke assumes on-site management of the upscale hotel in the Midwestern United States from former general manager Becky Vealey, who recently was appointed as JQH’s regional director of sales. Springfield, Missouri-based JQH is a leading private, independent owner and manager of hotels in the United States, including operating more than 1 million square feet of superb meeting space.

Pomrenke brings more than 34 years in the hospitality business, including eight years with JQH assignments in Missouri, Nebraska and South Dakota spanning Sheraton Sioux Falls and Embassy Suites by Hilton branded properties. Most recently, he served as general manager of the Crowne Plaza Hotel and Convention Center in Springfield, Illinois. Pomrenke’s career also includes roles with Spectra Food Services and Hospitality as director of business development/food services and hospitality in Florida and also as general manager of the Sioux Falls Convention Center. He also served as general manager of the Holiday Inn University Hotel in South Bend, Indiana, for IHG. Pomrenke graduated from the University of Sioux Falls with a Bachelor of Science in management. He also attended Virginia Tech School of Hotel & Restaurant Management. He is active in the community, including having served as Chairman of the Board for the Sioux Falls Convention & Visitors Bureau and also for the Sioux Falls Arena and Convention Center Citizens Board.
