In addition to his new responsibilities, Woods who started at the hotel in 2017, will take over as the hotel’s representative with the Lake Tahoe Visitor’s Authority and serve on the LTVA Meetings, Incentives, Conferences & Expositions Advisory Board.
After coming to Tahoe on a ski trip as a teen and again as a young adult, Woods knew he wanted to call Lake Tahoe his home base at some point in his career.
“The beauty of the Lake Tahoe Basin is something you don’t forget,” Woods said. “There’s a reason Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel has such a tenured staff and their knowledge of the destination and the hotel translates into amazing guest service. As head of sales and marketing, I’m looking forward to working on creative initiatives that continue that tradition. With 30 years of hospitality knowledge and as an event director working across all departments, I can not only help meeting planners execute successful events but also help paint a vivid picture of their options through our marketing materials.”
As director of group sales at Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel, Woods help lead the sales team to a South Lake Tahoe Chamber of Commerce tourism award in 2018.
Woods earned his bachelor of arts in hotel and restaurant administration from Washington State University and started his career in hospitality with Marriott Hotels & Resorts. During his Marriott tenure, Woods worked in properties from the East to West Coast and earned Event Team of the Year for the Americas recognition and a Global Event Management Team of the Year award. He also gained extensive experience in working with professional sports franchises such as the NFL, MLB, NBA, NCAA football and basketball.
Woods has three adult children who also enjoy his new hometown; a daughter, 26, who works as human resources manager in Tampa, Fla.; a 23-year-old son, who is a recent graduate of San Diego State University, and his youngest son, 21, who is attending the Kansas State University.
