Matt Granfield has joined the Mantra Group Executive Committee as Executive Director – Digital, overseeing the Group’s e-commerce and digital strategy. His appointment reflects the increasing focus on digital initiatives undertaken by the expanding Australian hotel group and retail focused companies both in tourism and other industries.
With over 15 years of digital and marketing experience, Matt was previously Head of Customer Marketing and Digital at Heritage Bank, and prior to that a partner and consultant with some of Australia's best-known creative agencies working on both tourism and financial services brands.
“There's so much data out there telling us what our customers want, and the potential to customise experiences based on guest preferences is enormous. Mantra Group has such a brilliant range of hotels around Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia, and I'm excited to be able to use data and technology to bring Mantra Group’s 'knowing what matters' philosophy to life in all of our properties,” says Matt.
“The fact that Mantra Group is investing heavily in digital and creating senior tech roles like this is both a sign of the times, and of the group's commitment to innovation. A great hotel or resort stay is so much more than a comfy bed in the right location, and I'm looking forward to being able to use technology as an enabler of amazing guest experiences.”
Matt joins Mantra Group as a member of the Executive Committee reporting to Chief Financial Officer Steven Becker with recruitment currently underway for the other members in the newly created Digital team.
“We are very excited to have somebody of Matt’s calibre and experience join the team in this strategic role, to help us drive this increasingly important area for Mantra Group,” said Steve Becker.
Matt studied his MBA at the University of Queensland and The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and is a graduate of Harvard Business School's Strategic Marketing Management program. He is an Associate Fellow of the Australian Marketing Institute and the Australian Institute of Management.
