“In 2016, technological advancements enable a new level of customer service that are transforming our industry,” explained Jacob Toves, IT Manager for Dusit Thani Guam Resort. “Many destinations we operate in have already undergone a technology-driven transformation in recent years, so when it came to our entry into Guam, we were adamant that we needed to maintain the luxury standard Dusit Thani is known for and invest to set the bar high from the very beginning”.
McLaren Technologies Managing Director Matthew White said his team was eager for the chance to work with the Dusit Thani brand, and destination Guam, for the first time.
“Dusit Thani is a brand that has always been committed to harnessing technology to allow new levels of customer service,” he said. “We have enjoyed working with them to introduce a number of elegant software solutions geared toward efficiency, convenience and creating an informed and connected hotel team.”
Mr. White added that the new install supports Guam’s overall 2020 Tourism Vision to attract and engage a new, customer focused breed of hoteliers and conference facilitators that will propel the tropical island into world-class resort status in the next four years.
“The Dusit Thani Guam Resort project is a prime example of this broader tourism vision for Guam being realised,” he said.
“In terms of guest experience and the hotel operation, perhaps the most interesting aspect of this hotel launch is its technology investment. McLaren’s install is indicative of the significant role internationally branded resorts play in enhancing the tourism experience by moving forward through IT advancements.”
“”There is no doubt that this new resort represents a fresh era of hotel and technology investment for the region and I am confident that this investment will pave the way for how Dusit Thani Guam Resort does business now, and in the future.”
Guam has developed into a major tourism destination, not least of all for Japan and other nearby nations, currently attracting approximately 1.3 million tourists each year and generating around $1.4 billion revenues. Mr. White said McLaren was looking forward to pursuing other hospitality projects in the destination as the region looks to invest and expand its current tourism interests to target existing and non-traditional markets.
