MIAMI—Miami Beach is the most expensive U.S. destination for New Year’s Eve. That’s according to the latest survey from CheapHotels.org, which compared 30 major destinations in the United States based on the cost of their lodging this December 31st.
For each destination, the survey established the minimum amount visitors will have to spend on December 31, 2016 to stay overnight in a double room. Only such hotels rated 3 stars or higher and those located close to the city center/ beach were considered. With a rate of $366 for its most affordable room, Miami Beach leads the rankings.
Second most expensive is Atlantic City, New Jersey. To ring in the New Year in this Atlantic Coast locale, revelers will have to spend $351 for the least expensive double room. Compared to what they would spend on a regular Saturday in January, the popular resort city is 232% more expensive the last day of the year. That positions Atlantic City as the highest rate hiker among all destinations covered by the survey.
In Florida's other top tourist destination, Orlando, New Year’s Eve travelers can find a double room from $179 per night. The most affordable destination to usher in 2017 is Salt Lake City, Utah. There an overnight guest can expect to be able to secure a room for only slightly more than $100.

The percentage changes reflect the difference compared to the most affordable double room on January 7, 2017.
