RIDGEFIELD, Conn. (September 15, 2022) – Guido Kerpel, COO of New Castle Hotels & Resorts, a leading hotel owner, operator and developer, announces the appointment of Paul Hartmann as the general manager of Holiday Inn Resort Jekyll Island in Jekyll Island, Ga. Hartmann has worked with New Castle Hotels & Resorts for the past six years at The Westin Jekyll Island, most recently serving as director of operations at the upscale property.
“Paul Hartmann is the ideal person for this position, and we are extremely excited for his new role at New Castle Hotels & Resorts,” said Guido Kerpel. “He has a keen understanding of the market and has proven himself as a leader during his tenure with our company.”
Mr. Hartmann is responsible for the overall management and operations at the oceanfront resort and for overseeing an exciting renovation that will bring a fresh and updated look and feel to the hotel. For the past 20 years the native New Yorker has worked in the hospitality industry. Before joining New Castle, he served in several roles, including front desk manager, at the 900-room Grand Hyatt Washington D.C. He also spent five years at the five-star luxury hotel The Shelbourne in Dublin, Ireland where he was the executive housekeeping manager and front desk manager. Mr. Hartmann began his career at the Hyatt Regency Boston, starting as an overnight security agent and working his way up to guest services manager.
Mr. Hartmann served in the U.S. Coast Guard for five years. He, his wife and three children are excited to welcome their fourth child soon. The family lives in St. Simons Island, Ga.
New Castle Hotels & Resorts acquired the 158-room Holiday Inn Resort Jekyll Island in early 2022. The property is located on more than seven acres of beachfront on one of Georgia’s southernmost islands. The company will make a significant capital investment to reposition the resort. The renovation includes the refurbishing of all guestrooms, a reimagined lobby, new event space with ocean views, a food and beverage makeover at the poolside tiki bar, expanded outdoor leisure/recreation areas and landscaping improvements. Following the renovation, the resort will have 1,200 square feet of space with an expansive, ocean view patio designed for meetings, social events and weddings.
