SHELTON, Conn. – -March 5, 2018— Gerry Chase, president and COO of New Castle Hotels & Resorts, a leading third-party hotel management company, owner and developer, today announced that Joseph Dadiego has been named general manager of the historic Westin Portland Harborview, a 289-room and suite historic hotel in the center of Portland Maine’s arts district.

A career hotelier with a passion for food and beverage, Dadiego began his career as a bar manager at the Hartford Marriott and rose to general manager of the Marriott Downtown Chicago. Most recently he was the general manager of the Dedham Hilton in Boston, where he achieved an eight-point improvement in overall service scores in six months’ time and delivered an increase of $3 million in sales over a two-year period.

“The Westin Portland Harborview has a friendly, service-minded staff and strong guest satisfaction ratings to show for their efforts,” said Dadiego. “As we move ahead, I look forward to nurturing the important fundamentals that already are in place and expanding on the hotel’s legacy as a Portland landmark. Guests visit Portland for its tremendous food and arts scene and its historic urban waterfront vibe. We’ll be looking for more ways to incorporate that individualistic feeling into our hotel.”

“Joe brings significant experience leading hotels with a group sales focus and he embraces marketing and food and beverage, which is critical in a foodie city like Portland,” said Chase. “His familiarity with Marriott systems and recent experience in Portland’s main feeder market make him an outstanding choice to lead this city’s centerpiece hotel.”

Located in the heart of Portland's arts district at 157 High Street, the 289-room and suite Westin Portland Harborview is the result of an 18-month, $50 million renovation that transformed a beloved, 1920s era grand dame into the city's most elegant hotel. The Westin Portland Harborview is within easy walking distance of the city's best dining, shopping and art galleries, as well as the Old Port District. Recently ranked the “fifth hippest city in the U.S.” by Travel & Leisure magazine readers and the “#1 Foodiest Small Town” by Bon Appetit, Portland is celebrated for its live music scene, fine dining, independent boutiques and eco-friendly lifestyle.
