Groundbreaking ceremonies on Tuesday, April 11 marked the start of construction by NewcrestImage on two properties of an innovative, first-of-its-kind four-brand, 600-room “lifestyle hotel campus” in North Dallas.
The first two hotels – an AC Hotel and a Residence Inn, both by Marriott – will feature 300 rooms and are scheduled to open in mid-2018. They have separate entrances but will share the same management and sales team, as well as the same housekeeping staff.
The second phase of construction is expected to begin later this year and will feature a Canopy Hotel by Hilton and a Hyatt Place, each with 150 rooms.
“We have carefully designed these hotels to meet a broad range of guest needs while offering an exceptional travel experience – by blending the comforts of home, the convenience of the office, and the luxuries of a vacation,” said Mehul Patel, Chairman and CEO of NewcrestImage.
All four hotels are strategically located at Frisco Station, a 242-acre mixed-use “live-work-play” development about 25 minutes from DFW International Airport. Together, they anchor a 200,000 sq. ft. dining and entertainment area called “The Hub” that connects, enhances, and supports Frisco Station’s more than five million sq. ft. of office space; 2,400 urban living units; and generous park areas.
The eight-story, 150-room AC Hotel by Marriott at Frisco Station will be among the first of this brand in North Texas and will include more than 4,500 sq. ft. of event space. A large lounge will reinforce Frisco Station’s guiding philosophy of offering distinctive common areas that are casually comfortable for co-working by day and for socializing by night.
The same building will also house a seven-story, 150-room Residence Inn by Marriott as an extended-stay option that features both one and two-bedroom suites, all with fully-equipped kitchens. Amenities will include an indoor pool, two lounge areas, and a dining room plus free grocery delivery service.
Décor for the AC Hotel is inspired by modern European design such as tones of gray and brown; furniture and fixtures with asymmetrical lines and round shapes; and highly textured, patterned walls, and ceilings.
By contrast, the Residence Inn – unlike other properties in this brand family – is designed with vibrant colors; eclectic furniture and artwork; and textured walls.
“The lifestyle hotel campus that NewcrestImage is creating at Frisco Station has never been done before,” said Mike Berry, president of Hillwood Properties, one of three companies in the developing partnership for Frisco Station.
“Each hotel concept is distinct in its design, function, and appeal. This is guest-tailoring that aligns perfectly with our vision of bringing together many different aspects of a productive, active, and healthy lifestyle in one convenient, walkable community.”
Currently, Dallas-based NewcrestImage has a portfolio of 23 hotels, with another 7 hotels under construction or in development including historic sites in Cincinnati, New Orleans, and Houston. The company has three divisions: real estate development; construction; and hotel management.
The Frisco Station Partnership consists of The Rudman Partnership; Hillwood Properties; and VanTrust Real Estate.
