Air Passenger Enplanements Up 14.6% Year Over Year in November 2023
Air Passenger Travel Between the United States and Europe Up 10.7% in November 2023
Data recently released by the National Travel and Tourism Office (NTTO) show that in November 2023:
U.S.-international air traffic passenger enplanements1 totaled:

19.031 million in November 2023, up 14.6 percent compared to November 2022, with enplanements reaching 102.7% percent of pre-pandemic November 2019 volume.
Originating Non-Stop Air Travel in November 2023
- Non-U.S. citizen air passenger arrivals to the United States from foreign countries totaled:

4.308 million in November 2023, up 17.3% percent compared to November 2022.

This represents 89.1 percent of pre-pandemic November 2019 volume.

On a related note, overseas visitor arrivals2 totaled 2.405 million in November 2023, the 9th consecutive month overseas visitor arrivals exceeded 2.0 million. November overseas visitor arrivals reached 82.8 percent of pre-pandemic November 2019 volume, down from 84.9 percent in October 2023. - U.S. citizen air passenger departures from the United States to foreign countries totaled:
- 4.953 million in November 2023, up 13.0 percent compared to November 2022 and exceeding November 2019 volume by 17.2 percent.
World Region Highlights in October 2023 (APIS/I-92 arrivals + departures)
- Total air passenger travel (arrivals and departures) between the United States and other countries were led by Mexico 3.173 million, up from #2 the prior month, Canada 2.401 million, the United Kingdom 1.443 million, Japan 763,000, and the Dominican Republic 758,000.
- International regional air travel to/from the United States:
- Europe totaled 4.821 million passengers, up 10.7 percent over November 2022, and down only (-4.1 percent) compared to November 2019.
- (U.S citizen departures were up 10.5 percent compared to November 2019, while European citizen arrivals were down -17.5 percent.)
- South/Central America/Caribbean totaled 4.894 million, up 17.5 percent over November 2022, and 19.1 percent compared to November 2019.
- Asia totaled 2.223 million passengers, up 54.1 percent over November 2022, but down (-25.1 percent) compared to November 2019.
- Europe totaled 4.821 million passengers, up 10.7 percent over November 2022, and down only (-4.1 percent) compared to November 2019.
- Top U.S. Ports serving international locations were New York (JFK) 2.531 million, Miami (MIA) 1.952 million, Los Angeles (LAX) 1.812 million, Newark (EWR) 1.117 million and San Francisco (SFO) 1.113 million.
- Top Foreign Ports serving U.S. locations were London Heathrow (LHR) 1.267 million, Cancun (CUN) 978,000, Toronto (YYZ) 978,000, Mexico (MEX) 696,000, and Paris (CDG) 598,000.
