CLEARWATER BEACH, Fla. – April 15, 2015 – Opal Sands Resort, set to open February 2016 on Clearwater Beach’s coastline, celebrated the topping off of its 15-story building on Friday, April 10th. As is customary with a topping off (reaching the highest structural point in construction), the event was marked with the placing of a tree on top of the building – in this case, a palm tree – appropriate for its Florida beachfront locale.
The ancient topping-off ceremony is a tradition in the construction world, where a tree or branch is perched atop the final placement of a structural beam or slab to symbolize a so-far safe project and the continuation of a successful build. Opal Sands construction staff and team members gathered to celebrate the hotel’s peak, which overlooks the Gulf of Mexico and Clearwater’s famous wide stretch of white-powder sand.
As one of the most-anticipated projects on the horizon for the booming Clearwater Beach area, and the latest addition to the elite Ocean Properties, Ltd. OPAL Collection, Opal Sands is well on its way to bringing a new high-end product to this beachside market.
“It’s an exciting time in the resort’s progress – getting to visualize the full potential of its architectural beauty and watching it assume its place on Clearwater Beach,” said General Manager, Jeff Castner. “We’re looking forward to the next 10 months of perfecting the hotel & preparing it for future guests, and establishing Opal Sands as the area’s next great resort destination.”
